This funny notion I will not forget. Thank you for pointing it out. "would they be the top half or bottom half?"
Eric Dierker says
Half of our DNA is our mothers and our fathers. We're only half our parents sons or daughters, just as those we call our half brothers or sisters. I wouldn't call anyone my half sibling. That's literally impossible. which half is your sibling?
Andre Sanchez says
I'd take it a step farther: Another case might be when your mother and her first husband adopted you and were the first and only parents you knew, but now your mother has a second husband. It's a whole difference role for your mom's second husband.
Good point Andre Sanchez
but you only have half of your DNA is from your father the other half is from your mother. You"re half your father's and half your mother's son or daughter aren't you?
But that is what it means to be a father or mother.
Right Andre but you're father doesn't say you're his half son although you really are only half his son. But we say we "half" siblings' But you can't literally have half a brother or sister or mother or father. So I don't use that term
