I typically get five to six hours at night. I'm in bed between midnight and 1 AM and up by 6 or 6:30. Most of the time, I also take a nap (1 to 2 hours) in the early evening, around 6 or 7 PM.
I've read some interesting theories about how people used to sleep twice a day for a total of 6 to 8 hours, rather than once a day for a complete 8 hours. Lately, it seems to be working for me. If I get my evening nap and five hours of sleep, I feel well rested in the morning. If I miss that nap, though, only having five to six hours of sleep at night can leave me a little wiped out.
