Could you call your child James, if you lived in Bootle through the 1993 James Bulger case?

The nature of this crime was so horrific, and the whole world felt greatly for James and his Mother. I can imagine that if you came from the same place it happened, surely calling your child 'James' would be too heart wrenching to even contemplate. News and updates about this case has surfaced intermitently over the years, and James is certainly still well remembered. So, out of sympathy for James would the name James have become very popular afterwards, or would the name James become less likely to be used for newborns in particular if you came from Bootle UK? What are your thoughts?
