Oh, I think they are great. Elegant looking, save on energy, large capacities, will do everything except make breakfast. Here's the catch, initial cost, and repair costs are much higher than standard machines. Major complaint is that they smell. This is a common complaint with front loaders, a small amount of water collects in the door boot and causes a mildew problem that is more pronounced in some machines. Lg has quite a few complaints on this line. Manufacturer suggests running bleach hot water load at least once a month, leave door open when not in use, don't use fabric softener, and drying the door boot. Long wash cycles. Large capacity models are pricey: $1300.00. I would consider a less expensive front loading machine like the Frigidaire. Also, do you do only one or two loads a week? A top loading machine might be acceptable since the energy savings may be minimal.
