Why is it so Hard to Find Baby Samples?

If you are like most new or expecting parents, you probably have heard about big companies giving away tons of free baby samples. The problem is, where do you claim these free samples? Most of these companies do not publicly advertise these offers – which is a shame. With all the craziness going on in your life around childbirth, it’s simply hard to find the time or energy to search through a bunch of websites to find the baby samples you seek.

Baby Product Manufacturers’ Websites

Although this is probably the most obvious place to find free samples, it’s amazing how well these sites are able to “hide” these great free offers. You could easily spend a few hours a night trying to find these samples, and more often than not, you will probably only find one or two per website.

Pampers.com for instance, has published close to 10,000 pages. Imagine sorting through all those web pages to come up with only one or two samples! However, it still is a good place to start – just make sure you don’t spend too much time on these activities.

Search Engines

Again, another obvious way to find baby samples. However, many websites that are ranked high are somewhat hard to navigate and don’t look like they’ve been updated since 2001. In fact, many of these sites have published offers that no longer exist. Plus, because they aren’t updating frequently, you are missing out on the latest baby samples being offered.

Baby Sample Web Sites

We’ve only found a few sites that specifically post baby sample offers, coupons and other free baby stuff.  However, our absolute favorite is www.baby-samples.org.  They always seem to post the best samples - and usually before anyone of the other sites.  This is extremely important when a lot of these free samples have limited supplies.   Plus, because they update frequently, you don’t end up clicking links that are broken or landing on webpages that don’t actually exist.

Baby Retail Stores

Many of these retail stores – such as Babies R’ Us – often have manufacturer representative come in and give out free samples on specific promotions.  We’ve found the best way to find out when to pick up free samples is to call ahead to stores in your area.   Try to speak to a manager and ask them what in-store promotions they have planned for the upcoming weeks.   They are usually more than happy to help – in fact some have even gone as far as posting their store events on their website…however this is not all that common, especially in more rural areas.  Your best bet is to pick up the phone and give them a call.

One Last Tip

If you want to get the most baby samples for your new or expected baby, make sure to get your friends and family involved. Simply tell them to use their name and address and just drop off the samples to you after they receive them. Talk about more bang for your buck. In fact, when our second child was born, we have over a month’s worth of free diapers (plus a whole Rubbermaid bin of toys) – which was great considering all the money spent on maternity clothing, hospital bills and follow-up doctor visits.

Now that you know where to get your product samples for babies, the only thing left to do is go fill out your information! We’ve found that the plugin “FireForm” for firebug works great. Basically it saves all the information that you would be typing in again and again (your baby’s name, birthday, mailing address, etc.) and automatically enters it with a click of the mouse. Talk about a serious time saver!

There you have it, 3 easy ways to get free samples for your new baby!
