I dont know DS but sure wouldnt object if he was escorted out
Typical liberal. When you hear something with which you disagree, that person should be "silenced." Very open-minded of you.
My mother always told me that talking to sock puppets is a sign of insanity.
Ur-arse, or whatever your new name is - this becomes tiresome, after a while
WOW! You liberals sure are sensitive. Where's your tolerance, acceptance and understanding of others who don't think like you? There was a group of people in Germany in the 30's and 40's who were intolerant and unaccepting. So sad that we have people like that in America in 2009.
I'm invoking Godwin's Law:
"As an Internet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.” Once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress. "
This thread isn't about winning or losing, it's about closed-minded people who are upset about my views and feelings.
I dont agree so far with anything you have to say, and it concerns me that in the same breathe you call yourself Humanitarian, call me old-fashioned and direct but where I come from thats calling telling lies.
I dont have all the political jargon to throw around but lots of common sense.
This thread is not about winning or losing, it's about closed-minded people who are unhappy with my views.
I'm not racist, I have preferences. How do you feel about the black on White crime epidemic in America? You know, where those types of attacks are never classified as hate crimes.
I live in Philadelphia and have only been to NYC a few times. I've been to Baltimore on many occasions. Thanks for asking.
Of course
Where does the sock puppet live?
Discrimination of color and gender. is jus intolerable and so neanderthal.
I don't discriminate against people because of their skin color, I discriminate because of behavior. There are many White people I don't like being around.
Have you even looked at your OWN behavior good grief. Nobody FORCES anybody to interact with those they don't like.
My behavior is just fine, I'm actually a humanitarian. My views and opinions on race have been formed based on my experiences.
I'm going to quit while I'm ahead, I don't want to get banned. I'm truly sorry that you disapprove of my views.
Sounds like you have an axe to grind, but you have the wrong guy, sport.
You know, it's great that you are working on a hub on that topic, but injecting it into every single thread is kind of annoying.
And I'm sorry, TK, but that is how you also 'fight.' So I imagine you would be annoyed. Even if it supports your position.
I think the person for whom it is intended will probably get it.
But thank you, I'll try very hard not to annoy you from now on. It shouldn't be hard. I do look for those who have more than two syllables to say, So, again, I am very very sorry for annoying you!
I can't wait until you are working on a hub about bird food and every single thread becomes a venue for the discussion of comparative seeds and fillers.
...........
Brilliant analogy, truly. I've read your stuff and I see your 'arguments.' This doesn't differ so much, does it?
So any topic you are writing about automatically becomes the topic of every single thread? You know exactly what I'm saying.
Not particularly. You don't present it that well. (sorry) Since the forum arguments have inspired my interest in the before mentioned topic, it just may be valid however. OH, I don't know! I do know your arguments are not particularly effective against this particular interlocutor in their present form, tho.
Some should stick to bird seed and puppies, perhaps.
Limited comprehension is as good an excuse for you as any, I suppose.
Right! Got tired of the other guy?
Sorry, you are the one who sounds like an idiot. I'm not the only one here that has told you so...people of all persuasions have told you so.
You must 'enjoy' your limited vocabulary tricks so much we see it over and over.
Oops! I guess you forgot about those logical fallacies you were insisting every thread be about.
Ooops. I guess your entire existence seems to be about logical fallacies. Teacher, instruct thyself!
I thought you were the expert. You need to study your own material.
And I never claim to be an expert--although you do seem intimidated, yep. I am--that is what I said--researching/studying the material.
You argue foolishly. I am tired of such posts
I think if I continue to respond to your ignorance and arrogance I would be 'interacting down' and that would might pollute me and not be good for my race
ask a silly question urias ,ya get a silly answer
Niters
That's rich! Nobodies forcing you to reply to my posts. Bye, bye.
I think multi-race marriages and families are a great testament to our society's ability to stand against racism. I'm all for it. And I'm speaking as an adoptive dad who has children of 3 different races.
Don's entitled to his opinion and I hold no animosity towards him for that. This IS America afterall.
As I said earlier, multiracial people are the fastest growing demographic in the US today.
yes you are, no I'm not, yes you are, okay so I am, I know you are, that's what I said, no you are, yes I am, and you're dumb, why do you say that, because you are, that's smart, I know, no you don't, you got an ugly mom, you got a small penis, you smell like doggy doo, you smell like baby shitty diaper, that's racist, thank you, what do you mean, I hate you. I love you all.
Actually I did report this thread for personal attacks. I think both TKS and HAI go way overboard...
Yep... But I'm enjoying it, Misha. Haven't seen it in a while. Not like its the best dialogue this time going, but... Maybe someone you mentioned will learn some manners. He needs to. It isn't just a political thing with him either.
Yes manners. Like not spamming every single thread with whatever my current pet topic just happens to be. Good manners.
Taste of your own medicine, perhaps?
Uh, yeah...and, um, um... Care to elaborate on that, or we get it through osmosis, or what?
Your posts are generally spam, TK. Sorry, but they are. And you are not interested in just argument, but in denigrating people.
Sorry! Didn't Sufi draw you out of this stuff? And he's a NICE guy...and you did it to him, too. Not to mention you following Mark Knowles around and swearing at him.
Really? Ok, how? What single point or product or issue have I been repeating over and over in every discussion whether it applies to the topic or not? 'Spam' doesn't mean 'you don't like me' (which is fine).
I actually tried to be friendly to you, if you remember.
I mean you attack everyone with one note answers...everyone. It is tiresome. And thank you for your interesting take on the definition of 'spam.' I'm sure there is soooo much evidence there.
This isn't about issues for you. This is about attacking.
Hi Misha, I've read some of your work. I like them.
I don't think my two responses in this thread are "way overboard" at all. Like everyone else I've voiced my opinion on a certain offensive post. My responses are quite tamed in comparision to others.
I agree. My comments have been heated, but yours have not. In any case, running to mommy to 'report' a discussion is pathetic.
Well, don't remember your first one, but I read the second one as an attempt to join the beating. My apologies if I misread it
It seems that if I ask a question that proves your logic to be incorrect, then you just don't answer the question. I am not taking it personally. I'm just trying to understand how someone who has dated someone of another race, been in love with that person, and felt that love, believes that it is wrong for other couples to experience that.
Your statement that my boyfriend is only with me because I'm white does not offend me. I know that this isn't the truth.
Sometimes I wish people could just see the truth for themselves, rather than come up with untrue stories in their heads.
You can look through my previous posts in this forum. There is no post that I have ever made that hasn't been based on the truth in my life, or my education. I think everyone here would back me up on that. I don't choose to defend my position on a matter to change someone, just to understand them. And I'm sorry, but I don't think I will get anywhere with you, because I still don't understand. When you avoid my questions you avoid admitting truth.
"Who in this country are denied being happy and having equal rights?" This is the only one I didn't answer directly. Inter-racial couples may have a greater difficulty being accepted, affecting their happiness with those who do not accept them. Equal rights are often denied to minorities, homosexuals, women, etc. Despite legislation mandating equal rights regardless of these demographics, often they are still denied.
If that wasn't the question, then I'm not sure what it was.
Aren't you a second coutrywomen account by chance, Colebabie? You are soooo nice to this guy, he does not seem to appreciate this
There is no point in calling him names. I was just trying to understand his logic. But his hypocritical responses, and lack of education/personal experience on any of the subjects he discussed, just leaves me even more in the dark. He didn't upset me personally, so if that was his goal, he failed.
I'm in a loving inter-racial relationship. Where as he is still "dating" around with no intentions of giving and accepting true love. That sucks
I have class in the morning. I'm going to sleep now. Have a good night.
I think, in general, not too many people think it's a big deal when there's a mixed-race couple. Within the last year or so, though, I did watch a good program that addressed some of the issues that can arise for the children of mixed-race couples. It was an intelligent, objective, look at some of the issues children of mixed race can (don't always) run into; but it also offered some of the things perceived as advantages by grown kids of mixed-race parents. There were also, though, things perceived as disadvantages. My point is, even if nobody thinks much about mixed-race marriages any more, there are apparently some issues parents need to be prepared to help children address (if they arise). As with all other possible issues kids can run into having to deal with, I would assume good, solid, parents would know how to help their children deal with any issues that may arise from being of mixed race.
That's great to know, Urias. Really. But I think all the suckers left the room. Entertaining, tho--maybe even useful.
So good luck with that gene pool thing.
I wish I had a good hammock, and I could go out and sleep under the stars tonight. Full moon and all.
Yeah, GT. Noticed that full moon and all. Almost always clear in AZ...
Yeah, but you have the ocean...
I'm gonna bet this thread is closed tomorrow.
I got a feeling our fine debate members will return when they figure we are sleeping to start sneaking insults in. Any bets?
I would say it is simply full of people who oppose your oppressive point of view.
And exactly who and how am I being oppressive? I have no control over people, I just have my opinion.
You should be more concerned about the muslim gang rapes in the name of allah on White women in Australia than about my preferences.
Choosing to point out One isolated incident in my country that happened ages ago is irrelevant and childish and does nothing to address the fact that your views are unwelcome here. And by the way Australia has a huge muslim population with a crime rate no higher than average.
My parents just called me brown. When I looked around there were a lot of brown people in the world. No identity problem there.
Urias,
Everyone has been trying to be civil and discussing your beliefs , you also have to listen to others without being condescending. I am in a interracial relationship and have been for 15 years neither one of us have a low self-esteem and both of us are quite educated. I do not have a low self-esteem whatsoever and I look at people for who they are not the color of their skin, nor there nationality. Here are my own personal thoughts on you. As you explained you dated a woman who was part puerto-rican and part-white you are condemning white women for dating outstide of there race, but you have not mentioned white men, whatsoever. Are you dating for love, or looking for a arm trophy? How would she have felt if she knew you were having this conversation? What was your purpose when it came to dating her? I am certain there is something about her that attracted you to her, and it certainly was not her nationality or skin color. I believe that somewhere a white woman has left you for another man outside of the white race, you were in love and she broker your heart. I understand your agitation however you do not have to take it our on others, mere listening and understanding would work, as it is simple education that plays a part. I do not see how it is wrong for a white woman, however it is right for a white man, this certainly does not make any sense. Read Galatians 3:28, Numbers Chapter 12, Moses second wife was Ethiopian and Romans 2:11 There is no partiality with God. There isn't anything written in the Bible that it is wrong to be married outside of your race. Many Christians have taken out of context in the old testament they are referencing marrying family members. The bottom line is if two people love the Lord with all of there hears, mind, body and soul and provided there are no other biblical issues that the two of you have to deal with, no where absolutely no where is it written that a couple cannot get married.
LOL...I actually agree with much of what you are saying, AE. You could see a lot written between the lines--all of them--with this guy. Maybe I should have said something...I dunno. The dialogue may not have turned so stupid (though more longwinded, lol), for one, though I was trying not to be 'subjective.' I guess...
But yeah, I think a woman must have left him for a guy of another race--just very recently. Probably hurt more than he'd ever let on..and he really liked her. And from what you can see, he has a tendency to objectify and get a bit narcissistic as a defense.
And I don't know, but when I lived there, I found the East Coast pretty competitive in quite a few ways. There is also a racial milieu that is at once more integrated, but also more separate in weird ways. Especially in the city--Jewish neighborhoods, Italian neighborhoods, black neighborhoods. In NYC, when I lived there, I actually ran into people who said stuff in this century like "all the races mix together in the Village," and were serious, which is soooo old school. But I found the East Coast was like that--New/Old and hyper competitive.... Also a lot of poor people--an inner city thing--and it isn't RIGHT, but given the way things are, 'nice' white people sorta have a tendency to separate themselves. I somewhat know about this--I interviewed in several inner city black schools. Cannot say I felt I totally belonged.
I also actually had a relationship with a guy from the former Soviet Union's Georgia. One of the reasons we broke up (despite the fact he was failing as an MD, which was the real reason) was the fact he wanted not just white, but full-blood Georgian kids. Christ. For real...and Georgia is about the size of Rhode Island. I'm telling you--Old School racial and nationalism stuff dies hard.
And...I don't know if anyone else noticed, but this person was doing an online 'troll' version of a Spike Lee routine. Anybody see Barber Shop? Lee gets in trouble for bringing up these very issues all the time in his movies--and with his own race, even though those issues are more carefully drawn. ....The troll guy crossed the line, though, with insulting people's significant others, directly, absolutely. Like I said, these are not issues to be handled with sound bytes.
My children are black and hispanic as well as have my white genes. My spouse, who is white, has had a lot of conflict with his church members since marrying me 7 years ago because the churches we preached at didn't like me being divorced and the stepkids of mixed heritage. It has been very hurtful. Most people judge me whether my kids are mixed or white (I have a little of each)not because of my kids' skin but because I have been divorced. You can never make everyone happy. People will judge no matter what!

In general, if you care, you're missing out on better things to think about.
Could be you don't know the history, GM, . Maybe it was before your time.
And maybe I just like hearing myself write! I'm very uppity like that. But thanks for your opinion,
Probably the most sane post on the whole thread
Haha, ty. But its just one permutation of the conversation.
Well said, "lxxy"! If he's sitting around worrying about "who's dating who, who'se being true, and who don't even care anymore," he's NOT paying attention to bigger problems in the world. Police Officers are being shot over breakfast, nut-jobs are blowing holes in their underwear (and not from the beans), and I think I heard today that the current administration has been releasing terrorists from Guantanamo Bay to Yemen and they are being recycled from Yemen back into the U.S. as shoe and underwear suicide terrorists.
So, congratulations Mr.mdawson17, you must have a good job, money in the bank, and maybe your 401K bounced back, which leaves you with plenty of time on your hands to ponder such interesting sociological questions.
NP.
I know the history.
But...it is as you say, history.
I can see why it may seem fascinating...the very idea...that someone of one skin color to another couldn't get married in the land of the free without having a molative cocktail thrown at their house and all.
I don't see anything wrong with dating outside of your race as long as they are good to you. My boyfriend is chinese and he treats me wonderful. So what he has a better tan than me. Of course this is not how many folks look at it. Me well I am not giving up my fellow over a racial issue.
I never did understand all this "race" stuff. Aren't we all part of the HUMAN race with varying rich cultures to share with each other.
My family is very culterely rich
My grand mother was American Indian,
aunt-Panamanian/Korean,
Brother-in-law /Syrian
Step nephew Indian (India)
Step father Black
Sister-in-law Italian
I myself an Irish , American Indian and German
sometimes they are accepting, sometimes no, it is ok. We have our own prejudices, stereotypes. Much as we can we should try to be fair always. Goes with stereotyping. Unless they do things which will harm the couple and their children, then it becomes bad.
We can't do anything with it, love conquers all for multi racial couple.
My baby is a product of a multi racial love and the only thing I heard so far, was they asked me if she is my daughter. The color of my skin is less dominant. I just thought that maybe they meant no harm in asking.
If you live life based on every random social norm out there, that's the life worth regretting for.
America is so crazy to me sometimes, when I travel around the nation it's like visiting different countries. Racism just doesn't exist around here like it does around some areas of the country.
Plus all of you talk funny
Many people don't realize, most Americans are bi-racial. Caucasians and Native American, or farther back with the Welsh who considered themselves a pure race and the Anglo Saxons. I would bet we all have some form of bi-racial blood coursing through our veins but the older generations seem to scoff at those marriages where one spouse is either black or hispanic and the other is white. I believe cultural differences can be overcome and the way the children are affected is not due to the parents but the way society perceives a bi-racial child. I am from the South, and despite the stereotype, there is not as much racism here as you would think.
Advanced society should have no problem at all. Obviously, those who are from homogenous states or smaller countries may have issues. Overall it is a moot point to society. and when it does come up, it creates interesting conversation
I am in a interracial relationship. My fiance and I recently had a beautiful baby girl who only lived 10 days. The day she died we were at the doctors office and we were separated and interrogated being accused of abuse, when the doctors told them that this death was a SIDS death and there was no abuse shown. We loved our daughter with every bone in our bodies and would have done anything for her. I have never felt like i was being racially profiled until that day.. The WORST day of my life and I had to defend myself and my fiance for hours that we weren't bad parents.

Why are some people angry over a multi-racial family being represented in a Cheerios commercial? The title of the Cheerios commercial is "Just Checking" and a host of negative and astoundingly bad comments followed after it first aired. What's your take?

The article came from an opinion piece in the New York Times, I would have liked to provide a simpler link. But, it was not possible.
