My brother wants to watch The Princess & The Frog. He loves Disney and practically tunes in to their channel.

This woman was all I think he might be gay and went ahead to let me know how wrong that was and I should sort it from now.

I was like are you serious?!

He's 8, even if he was gay, I'd love just the same but there's nothing wrong with him wanting to watch that film. He wants to see that and Astroboy and Pocoyo.

It's not even about the princess, he thinks the frog, crocodile and  firefly are really funny and wants to watch it purely for that.

It was rude enough she just butt into our conversation...people can be real jerks.

That lady is lucky that she picked on someone who was civil enough to walk away and not put a knot in her head.

Trouble with these type of people is while growing up they feel some part of entertainment in life is meant to be just for kids, they're so wrong. Atleast in case of toons. Not all cartoons are meant for kids.

  11. profile image0
    Crazdwriterposted 14 years ago

nope there are quite a few movies that aren't for kids. thruthfully I would wait until my kids (when I have them) are older to see Princess and the Frog. really dark a lot darker than most of the other Disney movies which shocked me.

It was sad but it had a good message both my daughter and I (she's 5) got a little emotional.  She is a little hyper but she sat through this one the whole time.  I love Disney!

I always have one reply for people like that:

"If ignorance is bliss, you must be one happy person."

Seriously, it sounds like this chick has some intense personal issues.  Maybe she was accused of being lesbian because she licked a frog once and it tasted like chicken.  Who knows, but, it doesn't matter.  Smile, nod, hand her the "I'm an idiot" card, and walk away.

Life's too short to let idiots waste your time.

...wait, if that's the case, sorry for taking your time. big_smile tongue

Must be big_smile...to look at him no one would ever think of my husband as the sensitive type...he has been described as "big and scary" by many different people...but he's truly a teddy bear smile. My son is four so it's hard to tell yet, but he seems to have a good balance...loves dolls, pretty colors, soft things, small animals...and monsters, dinosaurs, Transformers, and anything on wheels or that moves lots of dirt.

Well, I went to see it and my kids are adults and married. I took a good friend who is also in the business. I saw boys very young to young adult--with their families--attending the show.

It was actually my friend who asked me to go. He said I needed to "study" it since I'm working on a stage musical. I'm glad I went. The story is better than I thought and the songs were great. The animation was quite good, overall, as long as you are into traditional style. Very good show, overall. Nothing wrong with an 8 yr old boy wanting to see it!!

Seriously though. 8 year olds watch cartoons. That is what they do. That lady must have some kind of problem with a family member or friend who is gay. Or maybe she is confused about herself. Maybe she has tendencies and is at war with herself. bWhen we judge it is usually because we something about ourselves that we don't like.

    1. Ivorwen profile image65
Ivorwenposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Exactly.  8 year olds are not (usually) thinking sexually, and they love cartoons.  Disney is one of the safest bets for good, clean humor, especially on a kids level.  I would be worried if my boys didn't enjoy Disney cartoons.
