how do you stop your dog from barking at loud noises took my dog to an outdoor fireworks fair
Put ear muffs on him! Seriously I'm not sure if you can unless you decondition him or her. You would have to continually make loud noises and when they occur, use a catch word like 'quiet'- and reward the dog with a small treat or action ONLY when he/she does NOT respond to the loud noise and remains quiet.
You have to realte the barking to something that is a negative consequence.
For instance I believe it was Ivan Pavlov the psychologist (or in that day and age "scientific researcher") that used positive and negative reniforcements to train dogs.
Say theres a loud noise and your anticipating your dogs barking response. Put your hands around the dogs mouth firmly but not in a hurtful manner of course and repeat NO BARKING. Do it enough and the dog will soon follow....sounds weird but it has a tried and true psychological basis. Good luck!
