Many parents give young children over the counter medications such as melatonin and benadryl to put them to sleep. Is this child abuse?
To a degree, but it's probably born of ignorance. There's a subconscious assumption that over the counter is safe for any use.
I once knew a guy who gave his kid whiskey to make him sleep, so I guess over the counter meds beats that approach.
