Once you are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes you are severely put on lot of halts ,that is you have to control your weight ,restrict your food and so on, but do we really need to put heavy restriction on our self ?,no, not really ,so what is the second option? how can we eat delicious ,the answer is just ,plan your diet well and you are free to have wonderful food .we should shift to a higher kind of fat, Mediterranean-style diet in which there is a lots of olive oil,along with plenty of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and fish and poultry and whey (butter milk beaten well enough to let butter float on top of the way add little black pepper and salt ,it has wonderful effect on the diabetic patient, it brings the blood sugar down ,generally we see that a diabetic person is prescribed a low fat diet ,but does it really works to that extent ? you will be amazed to see that a person who is eating healthy has improved to such an extent after few years that they can give a thought to discontinuing the drugs of diabetes


The benefits come partly because a Mediterranean type diet is nourished with very healthy foods and partially because it does not rely on fat reducing foods which are high in refined stuffs ,(like artificial sugar used to make those stuffs ) the findings say so .

Reduce the amount of fat you eat by choosing fewer high-fat foods and cooking with less fat.
Avoid completely, the food that is high in sugar content eg. fruit juices sold in the market , fruit-flavored drinks, sodas, and also reduce the tea or coffee sweetened with sugar.

Check the use of salt in your cooking and at the table as well. Avoid high sodium food like salty fish, nuts canned and packaged soups, pickles, and processed meat too.

akhimamun,this is tested solution ,I cared for my mother in law in this way and now it is perfect her sugar level stay normal and she eats nearly every thing .the thing she has is the herbal medicine which I wrote on the table .there is a homeopathic medicine name Dibonil which helps to check the level of blood sugar.

I love your chart! It really gives great info-one entry in the chart gives me pause, though. Oranges, one of my favorite fruits, are really high in sugar. I still eat them, but not too often. My doctor gave me a great substitute, which I love. Blueberries! Actually, berries of any type are great when you crave that extra sweet flavor. When they are in season, I buy tons and tons and wash them, make sure they are dry-usually dry them on a cookie sheet lined with paper towels and then I put them in freezer bags and pop them into my freezer for those winter months when fresh berries are too expensive. Try a bowl of blueberries with a little cottage cheese for breakfast-keeps me going along time- great hub! We diabetics have to stick together!!! Have to share hints that work!

Hi, I was looking at the Mediterranean diet and it involves meat & meat products. Do you have some options for vegetarian. Also is it possible to make something with Jamun, Amla, Karela & cinnamon powder to control diabetes?

csar ,better still if you can have 2 times a day before meals (soak cinnamon powder 1gram and fenugreek powder 1 gram in a glass and have it it works wonder infact helps to bring blood sugar to normal range )along with this it you walk a lot it works and do twisting and turning exercise as it forces the organ to produce enough insulin

Hi Lotuslove, it does make a difference. Before my random sugar was 8.8. After taking ur mix it went down to 7.2 & now it was 5.7. I am so happy about that. Do you think it is short term or will it keep on going down. Should I increase the dose you think or not. But thanks.

Hello mam,

2 days back i asked u about pigmentation problem around my neck & face.Today i visted my doctor with he gave me for GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST.In that test i got result as

fasting speciemen-93, 1 hour specimen-170, 2-hour specimen-124.

he said it is pre-diabetic and gave one tablet of meta 500mg every day reffered to dietician.

my family has a history of diabetics my grand parents & my mother has it.

I am over weight i suppose(5'7-187lbs)

can u suggest me methods to get to normal stage

& be healthy and keep my family healthy.

durga,its really simple to build your immune system and let your own body fight the diseases ,see if you can get giloy stem or giloy powder start having it 2 times a day if it is a climer stick of giloy then take 2 inches of it crush it and soack it overnight have the water early in the morning and soak the same crushed stick in a glass of water and have it in the evening ,this will 100percent banish the chance of getting diabetes and those who have it ,if the consume it they will gradually control the blood sugar and will keep safe from futher aliments related to blood sugar .

there is a herbal combination called madhunashani from patanjali and madhu meri from baidyanath pharmacy you can but that if you can't fetch giloy ,they booth are very effective medicine in blood sugar

have plenty of warm water and before food have a cup of hot water it will help you loose your weight ,do kapalbhati prayanaam and anooloom viloom for 30 mins each everyday ,all this will contribute to good health .post me updates if you follow what I wrote to you

try getting them they are really really helpful.in the meantime do prayanaam everyday and soak methi seeds powder and cinnamon powder mix together in equal amount and soak one tea spoon over night havnd have it all in the empty stomach every morning and then soak in morning and have it in the evening

Hi Lotuslove, I am still waiting for you to write your mixture recipe that should work. I have been taking your cinnamom & fenugreek combo and my blood sugar stays lowest side 5.1 & highest 6.8 but I still have to keep taking my other medicine. So waiting.

csaraswat,tis is the remedy to bring down sugar level to normal.the results may vary from person to person,my mom is really doing well after this treatment but she is sticking to cinnamon and fenugreek mixture to keep safe

Ingredients:

1 - Wheat flour 100 gm

2 - Gum(of tree) (gondh or gugul) 100 gm

3 - Barley 100 gm

4 - Black Seeds (kalunji) 100 gm.

5 - cinnamon powder 50 grams

6 - fenugreek seed or powder 50 grams

Method of Preparation Put all the above ingredients in 5 cups of water.

Boil it for 10 minutes and put off the fire. Allow it to cool down by itself.

When it has become cold, filter out the seeds and preserve the water in a glass jug

How to use it?

Take one small cup of this water mix it with plain water in a glass every morning empty stomach .

Have it for 7 days non stop. Next week repeat the same on alternate days. With these 2 weeks of treatment you will see that you have become quite normal and can eat normal food without problem.

Note--please do not stop your medicine while you are having this mixture

csara,you have not missed anything ,it just that it takes time to come ino action,you will not have increased blood sugar after this. Now you can stick to cinnamon and fenugreek seed with giloy powder or stem soaked over night and have it every morning .and do prayanam.

Hello I've been a diabectic for 3yrs now my a1c 3mths ago are great...nut i have trouble figureing out what's harmful and what's not harmful i do not drink no juice..no sodas i drink all water..i would like to know how to make a tasteful salad but healthy as well...and how to prepare certain meats...i eat pork but not everyday nor every month i dont eat beef only once in a blue moon..i love turkey meat is turkey meat ok...u have really good tips...can u help me decide on a fantastic salad or meal

dawn,to make salad we can eathir have a bowel of cut vegetables like cucumber lettuce, cabbage ,onion beetroot tomatoes ,sprouts,with salt and cumin seed powder along with powdered black pepper,it is very healthy .you may try these mixed with yogurt it is very cooling and healthy.

Hi, I'm Lloyd; I'm a diabetic. I'm also a certified nutritionist. According to recent studies, one out of two Americans has either diabetes or pre diabetes and 90% of those don't even know they have it.

What causes diabetes? Type one diabetes, used to be called juvenile diabetes, is thought to be caused by viral or viral like infections in susceptible children. What is a virus? A virus is a protein packet with genetic material such as DNA--deoxyribonucleic acid--or RNA--ribonucleic acid. Some studies have suggested that the protein from cow's milk might be allowed to cross over from a child's leaky gut into the blood stream without being fully digested. Once, in the blood, the immune system attacks it and disassembles it. It is suggested that the cow's milk protein is very similar in shape to the beta cells of the pancreas. After the immune system eliminates the protein, the system remains on a high alert. Spotting the beta cells of the pancreas, the immune system attacks and kills off all the beta cells. Now, the pancreas cannot produce insulin and without insulin, sugar cannot get into the cells and the child dies.

Modern medicine uses bacteria to produce copious amounts of insulin so type one diabetics can now live much longer and rewarding lives. However, there is no cure for this condition. It must be treated or managed for the duration of that person's life.

Type II diabetes is not caused from the lack of insulin. It is caused by, too much insulin. Insulin is produced by the beta cells of the pancreas when humans eat carbohydrates. All carbohydrates will cause a rise in blood sugar. The pancreas detects this. The hormone, insulin, is then released into the blood stream. If the carbs are complex carbs such as green leafy vegetables, then the insulin release is very slow. The insulin gradually, over hours, escorts the sugar, glucose, into the cells where it eventually gets into the mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell, and produces an energy currency called adenosine triphosphate.

As stated before only carbohydrate foods spike the blood sugar levels which, in turn, spikes the insulin levels in the blood. There are three types of carbohydrates and they are all either plants or made from plants. These are: Complex carbs; which are whole plants such as green leafy vegetables. One may eat all of these one wants without fear of spiking the blood sugar or insulin levels. Simple carbs such as fruits will spike the blood sugar/insulin a bit faster. If you are a full blown or pre-diabetic, you may want to be careful which fruits you choose until you get your blood sugar is under control. Processed carbs made by man from fruits and vegetables include but are not limited to: cakes, cookies, breads, even whole grain breads, pasta and white rice. All of these spike the blood sugar and should not be eaten by anyone.

I say all this about cholesterol to bring up the fact that the medicine the pharmaceutical companies try to push on us leads to type 2 diabetes which leads to heart disease which was the reason the doctor started the patent on the statin drugs to begin with.

So, if you are not a vegan, you may eat all kinds of meats without raising your blood sugar/insulin. However, there are reasons for limiting your red meat intake. A better choice would be cold-water fish such as salmon. These deep sea, wild, fish have a lot of omega 3 fatty acids which reduces inflammation. Red meats have a lot of omega 6 fatty acids; which can cause inflammation; which leads to all of America’s degenerative diseases to include diabetes.

As we have established, refined or processed carbs have to be AVOIDED, not just limited. Sugar must be avoided totally. And, an exercise program is a must. Why is exercise important to a diabetic? The moment you start to move, your body starts the production of nitric oxide. Chemical formula (NO) means one atom of nitrogen and one atom of oxygen. This same compound produced as a pollutant in our atmosphere acts as a dilator in our blood vessels. What happens when a blood vessel dilates? It get bigger around; which means more blood can flow which means more oxygen and nutrients get into the cells faster.

Something else happens when we began to exercise: That insulin that was running around in your blood trying to get the sugar into the cells and finally when the cells would not accept the sugar, insulin turned it into abdominal visceral fat. During exercise, insulin is used up. Once we start to exercise and develop muscles more mitochondria are produced and sugar that would have been stored as fat is turned into glycogen and stored in the liver and the muscles for future use in flight or fight mode.
