2 Easy Cheese Ball Recipe Ideas

There are so many different ways to make cheese balls that it is easy to come up with varieties that will please your friends and family members. Most cheese balls start with a cream cheese base, and then take on different flavors depending on what types of ingredients and flavorings you choose to add.

Savory Cheese Ball Recipe: Cheddar Pecan Cheese Ball

  • 8 ounces softened cream cheese (regular or reduced fat, do not use fat free)
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (optional)

Blend cream cheese, sour cream, onion powder, and garlic powder until well mixed. Stir in shredded cheddar. Form mixture into a ball. If using chopped pecans, roll the cheese mixture in pecans until thoroughly coated. Refrigerate until firm, at least two hours.

Try serving savory cheese balls with: pita chips, whole grain crackers, sesame crackers, Triscuits, and other crunchy snack chips or crackers.

Sweet Cheese Ball Recipe: Apple Cheddar Cheese Ball

  • 8 ounces softened cream cheese (regular or reduced fat, do not use fat free)
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup of very finely chopped Granny Smith Apples
  • ¼ cup of chopped walnuts (optional)

Mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, and apples together until well-blended. Shape mixture into a ball and refrigerate until firm, at least two hours. If using chopped walnuts, roll in nuts before serving.

Try serving sweet cheese balls with: sliced apples, whole grain crackers, gingersnaps, Townhouse crackers, and other crunchy crackers.
