Easy - Make a Rum Rainforest and 5 other Cocktails

6 EASY Cocktails

Welcome to the latest EASY Cocktails hub. I've realised (finally) that many people drink cocktails made solely of their favourite spirit, be it vodka or whiskey. With that in mind I will from now on be doing one cocktail for each common base spirit in each hub, and one wild card cocktail.

This hubs wild card is an oddity to look at in black and white, many of you may turn your nose up at mix of ingredients, but please, try it, even if cider isn't your thing (and that's enough clue for now). Today I'm showing you..

Cape Masquerade - Vodka Cocktail
Rainforest - Rum Cocktail
Pink Elephant - Gin Cocktail
Buns to the Sun - Tequila Cocktail
Whiskey What?? - Whiskey Cocktail
Bubblegum - WILD CARD

Cape Masquerade

It's a very simple cocktail, the flavor range isn't stunning, but the Cointreau adds a touch of complexity to the drink, not bringing a great deal to the overall taste, but peeking out at just the right time.

Required Ingredients;

  • Vodka
  • Rum
  • Cointreau
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Ice

Fill a Boston Glass with Ice and add the ingredients as follows;

  1. 2 Parts Vodka
  2. 1 Parts Spiced Rum
  3. 1 Part Cointreau
  4. 8 Parts Cranberry Juice

Attach your shaker to the Boston Glass and shake well.

Fill a Highball Glass with Ice and strain the contents of the Boston Glass in.

Rainforest

Fruity, refreshing and extremely sweet, the Rainforest would go down a treat in those hot climes, but you can have one without visiting the jungle if you like, this green cocktail is probably as close as you'd want to get to there anyway.

Required Ingredients;

  • Malibu
  • Blue Curacao
  • Orange Juice
  • Ice

Fill your Boston Glass with Ice and add the ingredients;

  1. 3 Parts Malibu
  2. 5 Parts Orange Juice

Shake well and strain the mix into a Tall Glass with Ice

Add a dash of Blue Curacao

Serve with a straw, and stir before drinking

Pink Elephant

Something of a simplified Singapore Sling, it uses the classic Gin and Cherry combo.

Required Ingredients;

  • Gin
  • Cherry Brandy
  • Amaretto
  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Soda Water

Fill a Tall Glass with Ice and add the following Ingredients;

  1. 3 Parts Gin
  2. 1 Part Cherry Brandy

Add Soda Water so the glass is nearly filled and stir.

Add one very Small Dash of Amaretto and Juice from one wedge of Lemon

Serve with a straw

Buns to the Sun

The addition of Peach Schnapps to the Tequila Sunrise makes a nice refreshing cocktail, instead of Grenadine we use Blackcurrant cordial.

Required Ingredients;

  • Tequila
  • Peach Schnapps
  • Orange Juice
  • Blackcurrant Cordial
  • Ice

Fill a Boston Glass with Ice and add the following ingredients;

  • 4 Parts Tequila
  • 1 Part Peach Schnapps
  • 8 Parts Orange Juice

Shake well and strain into a Tall Glass with Ice

Add a small dash of Blackcurrant Cordial so that it sinks to the bottom.

Garnish with a wedge of Lime

Serve with a straw

Whiskey What??

Want whiskey? Want fruit? What?!!

Required Ingredients;

  • Canadian Club
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Ginger Ale
  • Wedge of Lime
  • Crushed Ice

Add the ingredients to a chilled Tall Glass with crushed Ice as follows;

  1. 3 Parts Canadian Club
  2. 3 Parts Pineapple Juice
  3. 3 Parts Ginger Ale
  4. Juice from 1 Wedge of Lime

Stir till the glass frosts up.

Garnish with a wheel of Lime

Serve with a straw

BUBBLEGUM

This is today's WILD CARD, it doesn't really have a base ingredient, the bubblegum has a massive array of flavor as you'll be able to see from the ingredients. This is a cocktail to be made in large portions, though you can make it to any quantity you like.

Required Ingredients;

  • Vodka
  • Banana Liqueur
  • Melon Liqueur
  • Peach Schnapps
  • Cider (must be good quality)
  • Orange Juice

I recommend making this as a full jug, to serve about 5 drinks from, you can simply add the ingredients to the jug and stir, however if you only want one, then add all the ingredients except for the Cider to a Boston Glass with Ice, shake, strain into a cocktail glass, and add the Cider. Use the following measurements;

  1. 1 Part Vodka
  2. 1 Part Peach Schnapps
  3. 1 Part Banana Liqueur
  4. 1 Part Melon Liqueur
  5. 4 Parts Orange Juice
  6. 4 Parts Cider (for large mixes of up to 6 servings, use a 33cl bottle)

Stir the mix till it seems blended.

Serve into Cocktail Glasses with Ice and a straw.
