Appletini

Longtime favorite of party goers, it shares almost the same modern cultural status as it's friend, the Cosmo, being featured regularly in such shows as Scrubs, and being the "official drink of Facebook". This particular recipe can be made two ways, one is stronger than the other, so try whichever one you think you could handle best..

Required Ingredients;

  • Vodka
  • Apple Schnapps/ Apple Juice This is where the two versions differ, use the schnappes if you prefer a stronger drink, and the juice if not)
  • Cointreau
  • Ice

Chill a Cocktail Glass

Fill a Boston Glass with Ice and add the ingredients as follows;

  1. 2 Parts Vodka
  2. 2 Parts Apple Schnapps/Apple Juice
  3. 1 Part Cointreau

Shake very well

Strain the mix into the chilled Cocktail Glass

Garnish with an un-peeled slice of apple

Serve with a straw.

Hurricane

The only kind of Hurricane welcome in New Orleans, the city of it's birth. The story of it's creation says that tavern owner Pat O'Brien needed to get rid of a lot of poor Rum to make space for better quality spirits, and so came up with this recipe, and gave it away in Hurricane Glasses to sailors.

Required Ingredients;

  • White Rum
  • Dark Rum
  • Passionfruit Syrup
  • Lime Juice
  • Ice

Fill a Boston Glass with Ice and add the ingredients as follows;

  1. 2 Parts White Rum
  2. 2 Parts Dark Rum
  3. 3 Parts Passionfruit Syrup
  4. 1 Part Lime Juice

Attach your shaker and shake well.

Strain into a Hurricane Glass with Ice

Garnish with 2 Cherries on a stem

Serve with a Straw

Gin Rickey

Born in the 19th century, and against the trend of many Gin cocktails has seen a revival of sorts in recent years. For one circle of Bartenders in Washington D.C July is Rickey month

Required Ingredients;

  • Gin
  • Juice of Half a Lime
  • Sparkling Water
  • Ice

Fill a Highball Glass with Ice and add the Ingredients like so;

  1. 2 Parts Gin
  2. Juice of Half a Lime

Stir, then top up with Sparkling Water

Serve.

Matador

Like most (if not all) good Tequila cocktails, this one originates in Mexico. Though not so popular as it's cousin, the Tequila Sunrise, this is by no means an inferior drink.

Required Ingredients;

  • Tequila Blanc
  • Lime Juice
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Ice

Fill a Boston Glass with Ice and add the following measurements;

  1. 1 Part Tequila Blanc
  2. Juice of Half a Lime
  3. 4 Parts Pineapple Juice

Shake the mix well and strain into a Tall Glass with Cracked Iced

Garnish with a wheel of Lime

Serve with a Straw

Irish Coffee

Invented to calm the nerves of storm embattled passengers of the transatlantic air service from America in the 40's, it's turned out to be good for more than just that. Best enjoyed while relaxing a toasty room when there's nothing else to be done.

Required Ingredients;

  • Irish Whiskey
  • Coffee
  • Cream
  • Brown Sugar

Take a fresh mug of coffee and add a measure of Whiskey, equal to half the amount of Coffee.

Stir in the cream to taste and 1 Teaspoon of Brown Sugar.

Serve

Nuclear Iced Tea

This is today's Wild Card cocktail, an excellent twist on the Long Island Iced Tea, it replaces the Tequila with Midori, and the Coke with Lemonade.

Required Ingredients;

  • Vodka
  • Rum
  • Gin
  • Midori
  • Cointreau
  • Lemon Juice
  • Lemonade
  • Ice

Combine all the ingredients in a Highball Glass as follows;

  1. 1 Part Vodka
  2. 1 Part Rum
