Avocado Whip: Brazilian Dessert Treat (Abacate Batida Receipe)
When I first heard of this dessert I was apprehensive in trying it, but once I did, I found that the odd mixture of ice cream and avocados was a real treat. The Brazilian name for this dish is Abacate Batida and the dessert is a national passion. You need the following ingredients to start this delicious adventure:
Juice of one lime
2 Tablespoons of Sugar
1 Cup of Vanilla Ice Cream
First peel and pit the avocado. Remove the meat of the avocado from the peel and mash. A potato masher does an excellent job for this part. Add the lime juice and sugar and then combine with the ice cream. Blend with a rotary beater until the mixture is smooth. You can place in ice trays to gain some solidity, but do not freeze. I know the ice tray method had me for a loop, but it allows you to pass out the treats in a more organized fashion. You probably could experiment with that technique.
