Bacon Tater Tot Casserole Recipe

If your looking for the tastiest tater tot casserole you'll ever eat then your probably at the right place. I know you've probably seen a lot of recipes for tater tot casseroles but here I think we have the ultimate recipe. Its called, " Bacon Tater Tot Casserole " and its one of the best casseroles you'll ever eat.

I've worked with this recipe for a long time and I think I've finally come up with a version of this recipe that will have you begging for more. Most people love tater tots and bacon and I've added a few more ingredients to make this into what I feel is the ultimate casserole.I tried putting the bacon tater tot casserole together a few different ways and I think I have truly come up with the ultimate bacon tater tot casserole.

You want to start out with a pound of good quality bacon and you will want to cut it up into small one inch pieces. Cook your bacon until the bacon is crisp and done but be sure not to let your bacon burn. I put half the bacon into the casserole and sprinkle half on the top. It is wonderful this way. Let me know what you think.

I cook my tater tots and onion together for the best flavor and you'll want to spray a baking pan with vegetable cooking spray. On that baking pan put a layer of tater tots and a layer of fine diced sweet onion. Bake until the tater tots are brown but not over cooked and the onions are done. You will want to repeat this until you have cooked and browned a two pound bag of tater tots and two cups of sweet onion.

Once you have the tater tots and onions cooked put them into a large mixing bowl and to that large mixing bowl add the below.

1. One 16 - 18 Ounce Container Ricotta Cheese.

2. One Eight Ounce Container Sour Cream.

3. One Sixteen Ounce Package Shredded White Cheddar Cheese.

4. One Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.

5. One Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper.

Mix everything together very well and then pour out into either one large casserole dish or two small casserole dishes. Sprinkle the top of your casserole with fine chopped fresh chives. Now wrap your casserole dish very tightly with tin foil.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and place your casserole into the oven. Cook for 45 minutes. Remove the tin foil and turn your broiler on. Allow your casserole to brown on top and then take it out of the oven. Allow your bacon tater tot casserole to cool for 15 minutes before you dish it out and serve.

I make this bacon tater tot casserole all the time and almost everyone who tastes it says it is the most delicious casserole they have ever tasted. Its great with barbecue or grilled meats and its really easy to make.

Be sure that you dice your sweet onion up very fine. You don't want big pieces of onion in your casserole. Purple sweet onions are best to use in this casserole if your local supermarket has them in stock.

Some people like the casserole made with one cup of diced red sweet pepper added to the casserole. I like it either way and I guarantee you that either way its delicious.
