Baghara Bhaat (Seasoned Fried Rice)
This is a very popular recipe which helps utilization of left-over cooked rice from the previous meal. Thus this helps wastage. 2 tbsp oil
250 gms boiled rice
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 medium-sized onions finely chopped
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 tsp chopped green chillies
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 medium-sized tomato finely chopped
Bunch of curry leaves
Bunch of Coriander leaves for garnishing
- Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds. When they crackle add chopped garlic and chillies. Fry for a minute and then add curry leaves and chopped onions.
- Fry till they turn just golden brown and crisp.
- Quickly add turmeric powder and salt and then add chopped tomato.
- Cook for a while with constant stirring. When it gives out a rich flavor of frying onions, add boiled rice. Mix well. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves and lime slices.
