For the vanilla frosting, you will need ¼ cup of softened butter, 2 tablespoons of sour cream, 1 box of confectioners’ sugar, 1 package of softened cream cheese and 2 tablespoons of Pure Vanilla Extract. As you can see, there’s nothing fancy about the ingredients used for these red velvet cupcakes and they won’t require you to spend lots of money.

You will have to preheat the oven at 350 degrees F. beforehand. Meanwhile, mix the baking soda, salt and cocoa powder in a bowl and then beat the sugar and butter in a large bowl using an electric mixer for 5 minutes while adding in the eggs. The next step in order to bake the red velvet cupcakes is to add the milk, sour cream, vanilla and food color, mixing in the flour as well.


The last step for the red velvet cupcakes is to put them into 30 muffin cups, leaving 1/3 of each cup unfilled. Leave the cupcakes for 25 minutes and check with a toothpick to see if they are baked the right way. Mix firmly the cream cheese, sour creme, softened butter and Pure Vanilla Extract in order to create the vanilla cream cheese frosting, the final touch that you will add on top of your self-made cupcakes.
