Book reviews: It's all good, by Gwyneth Paltrow an Actress who has Taken to Writing

Who is Gwyneth Paltrow ?

Gwyneth is better known as an actress who has acted in 46 films. Born in 1972, Gwen was born into films and acting as her father was. Her father was Bruce Paltrow and mother actress Blythe Danne, both are names to reckon in the world of cinema and acting. Gwyneth made her acting debut on stage in 1990. She began her film career in 1991. She became a familiar face after acting in films Seven (1995) and Emma (1996) . Gwyneth has won a slew of acting awards including a Teen Choice Award for the Sexiest love scene for the Film Shakespeare in Love

Gwyneth and Writing

Having won laurels as an actress, Gwyneth has ventured into the world of books. Now at the age of 40, Gwyneth has written a book ‘It’s all good’ that has showcased her talent as a nutrition expert. The complete title of the book is ‘it’s all Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great’.

Award winner and her Book

After going through the book the stark fact emerges and a question will arise in the reader’s mind, as to how an award winning actress could have written a book on cooking. This is not a subject one can associate with an actress, more so with a a woman who has carved a niche for herself in the field of films. The fact is, she wrote the book which gathered a tremendous readership. In no time the book became a best seller.
Her First Book

This is Gwyneth’s first book and she has kept the contents simple. She has drawn heavily from her own experience and produced a book which focuses on super-healthy foods. The theme of her book is that food makes you feel better and nobody can have any reason to contest this idea of Gwyneth.

Most of Gwyneth’s recipes are completely free of dairy and sugars and at the same time look appetizing. She seems to be greatly influenced by Eastern cooking and her dishes like Crazy Good Fish Tacos, Spring Vegetable Soup, Posole, and Tandoori Turkey Kebobs have a touch of the East.

How Gwyneth wrote the Book. The Inspiration behind it

The book saw the light of the day after she reported to her doctor who advised her to eschew alcohol, tea, coffee sugars, meats, eggs deep sea fish and many more items. Worried as to what to eat led her to compile a list of foods that are good to eat. She has published these recipes in her book.

Theme of the Book

The book has a recurrent theme that food is good and as she herself is a foodie, the book brings out recipes that are not ordinarily in vogue. Her recipes include: Huevos Rancheros, Hummus Tartine with Scallion-Mint Pesto, Salmon Burgers with Pickled Ginger, even Power Brownies and Banana "Ice Cream."

Most of the recipes showcased by Gwyneth are surprisingly easy to prepare. The book also has some lovely photographs of Gwyneth in a leisurely mood. These add to the lustre of the books contents.

Launching the Book

Gwyneth while launching the book turned up in brief shorts that showcased her lovely legs and was an excellent advertisement for the contents of the book and what it promises. Her trim and slim figure was an excellent advertisement for the contents of the book.

Assessment

The book has had good sales and that has encouraged Gwyneth to go in for a sequel. The book as it is published is a refreshing piece of culinary expertise that charts a different course from run of the mill cookery books. Bear in mind that Gwyneth totally eschews red meat and as such anybody interested in this type of food will have to bear with it. In fact Gwyneth advises all to eschew red meat completely. She herself never eats these meats.

Personal Life

At the age of 24 Gwyneth was engaged to actor Brad Pitt. But after a 3 year courtship she broke with him. Paltrow dated actor Ben Affleck from 1997-2000, when she again broke with him.

In 2002 she met Chris Martin of the British rock group Coldplay. It was a whirlwind romance and they were married in 2003. She has two children and her marriage appears stable.

What an interesting niche for an actress. Of course, it helps in getting the book published that she is famous. :) Thanks for the review.

Thanks for sharing this ...I will be watching for it ...She is multi-talented and perhaps because she is well known some may pay attention to her suggestions. The food choices you shared make me wish to know more about her book.

Angels are on the way to you this morning. ps

Another good book review. Gwenyth Paltrow is one of my favorite actors. I have followed her career over the years. Don't forget she won an Academy Award for "Shakespeare in Love." She has been interested in cooking and nutrition all her adult life. She has been on several cooking shows in PBS and she and one of the famous chefs (I forget his name at the moment) traveled throughout Spain on a gastronomical tour. The Spanish recipes from the trip where on her web-site. She has been very interested in nutrition for her family since her children were born. I just love her and her acting work in films and I have also enjoyed her cooking moments. Thanks for bringing this nutrition book of hers to our attention. I will certainly check it out.

Good for Gwyneth. Sounds like that health scare brought some great changes for her and her family. It always inspires me to hear stories that start with a scare but end up being a blessing in disguise. You did a great job on this review. My brother and older sister are gluten free and seem to enjoy the foods they eat. I do think that it is a little more expensive to eat this way in the long run but I guess it's worth it.
