Best Organic Coffee Brands

Kroger: Private Selection Organics Whole Coffee Beans

The Kroger brand Private Selection whole bean coffee is a Medium Roast and sold in pre-packaged bags in the coffee aisle. The Private Selection brand is reasonably priced, great tasting USDA Certified Organic Coffee. Grind your coffee beans as fine as you like to get a bold flavor out of this coffee, or choose to brew a milder pot of coffee with medium ground beans at home.

Sprouts Farmers Market: Organic Coffee

Sprouts Farmer's Market has locations in California, Texas, Arizona and Colorado. If you have a local Sprouts, check out the Organic coffee selection in the stores. The whole bean coffee is sold in the self-dispensing containers and you can fill a bag to buy by the pound. Prices are about $6.99 a pound and one of the best values you will find for Organic whole bean coffee.

I love Sprouts coffee because you can choose your whole bean coffee from many worldwide origins and roast types. Also available are flavored roasts in addition to 2 or 3 Organic Coffee choices in the whole bean variety. Samples of coffee for tasting are often on display so you can try before you buy on the daily brews. Farmers markets are a great place to find a variety of specialty coffees.

One of my favorite flavors is the Jeremiah's Pick Chocotal with Cocoa Nibs. This was priced $8 a bag (ground) last time I purchased it and I love the flavor the natural cocoa in the coffee. I don't like sweet artificialy flavored coffees but this is totally different.

Tom Thumb (Safeway): O Organics European Blend

The "O" organics brand at Tom Thumb and Safeway stores boats a dark roast European blend Organic Fair Trade whole bean coffee for usually $8.99 (sale price) for a 10 oz. bag. The "O" brand has a large breadth of ground and whole bean coffee with Fair Trade marks and great taste and price. USDA organic certified products are a large part of the selection of the coffee at Tom Thumb stores and the prices are really great for the quality of product.

Find whole bean Organic Shade Grown Mexico Blend coffee at Starbucks online and at select retail locations. This is a light-bodied coffee sold for about $11.95 a bag. The Starbucks online rating gives it a 4.7/5 star rating from customer reviews. For the price, this is not the best value Organic coffee but you know exactly the parts of Mexico this coffee comes from when you buy a bag. Also, you can find Organic Starbucks coffees at some grocery stores in your area.

Costco Fresh Roasted Seattle Mountain Coffee

Costco: Seattle Mountain Sumatra Blend

If you are looking for the freshest roast, Costco sells fresh roasted coffee (roasted on-site and still warm!). The Sumatra blend is from whole organic coffee beans, the only organic offering I have found under the umbrella of fresh roasted beans from Costco. If you don't have a coffee grinder at home, you can grind the coffee beans at a machine on-site. Bring home the freshest roast with the Seattle Mountain beans. The brand is also priced at a great value at Costco and is worth a special trip to the store.

The extensive variety, easy dispensing setup to allow custom blending, quality of beans, freshness, and super price ($8.99 lb, sometimes as low as $5.99 on special) combine to make Sprouts the place to go for coffee beans. Try Col. Jackson's blend: 1/2 dark roast Colombian, 1/4 Sumatra, 1/4 French roast, a good way to start.
