How to prepare Cabbage Rice Recipe? This rice can be made in less than 45 minutes and tastes great too. Given are the ingredients and method of preparation of Cabbage Rice.

Ingredients for Cabbage Rice

  • 2 cups Basmati Rice
  • 1 Cabbage finely chopped
  • 2 Onions finely chopped
  • 1 cup fresh Green Peas (optional)
  • 1 Capsicum finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 Tomato chopped (optional)
  • 2 Green Chilies slit in the middle
  • 2 tsp Garlic chopped
  • 2 tsp Ginger scraped
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Finely chopped Coriander Leaves for Garnish
  • Oil (as required)
  • Salt (as required)

Method of Preparation of Cabbage Rice

Cook the Basmati Rice and keep aside for cooling. In the mean while heat Oil in a thick bottomed kadai and add cumin seeds and splutter. Add chopped green chilies, grated ginger, garlic, tomato pieces and chopped onion to the kadai and fry for 3-5 minutes. Now add the chopped cabbage, green peas or capsicum, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and salt and mix well. Cook in medium flame till the cabbage is tender. Once done add Rice and mix well. Remove from flame. Garnish using chopped cabbage and coriander leaves and serve hot with Papad and spicy gravy.
