Candy Land Theme Cake

Candy land was one of my favorite games growing up. So when I received a request to make a candy themed cake for two twins first birthday, I was eager to oblige. Each cake was a two tier 10 inch cake topped with a Giant Cupcake Smash Cake. The Dollar Store was a great source for candy. I even scored those giant marshmallow lollipops from there. The cakes were a hit and so simple to decorate. Here's a tip! Purchase the Giant Cupcake Silicone Pan! I have used this pan on so many occasions and it always produces excellent cakes. I even make a candy cupcake wrapper for a smooth professional finish. Check out the video below to learn how to make your own!

Chocolate Kit Kat Cake

A few years ago, I was trying to come up with a cake design for my son's twelve birthday. He wasn't into any character theme parties anymore and wanted something different. He had always been a chocolate candy lover so this cake idea was awesome. I simply baked a chocolate cake with oreo buttercream filling and topped it with chocolate ganache. I took this cake over the edge by surrounding the cake with king size kit-kats and topped with oreo cookies. He loved it!!! I must admit it was a bit too much chocolate for me, but the kids approved. Here are a few different takes on this kind of cake that I found online.

Rock Candy Cake

Have you ever made rock candy? I remember making it in elementary school for a science fair project. It was so amazing to watch the sugar crystals grow day after day and be able to gnosh on the end result. I love rock candy and often include it in my dessert tables for a retro nod. So when I saw this cake on Kara's Party Ideas I knew it would be a winner.

How to Make Rock Candy

Give it a Try!

So as you can see, a cake decorated with candy can have big impact! It's also a very easy way for the average baker to decorate a cake without a lot of work. Do you have someone in your family that is hard to please? Don't fret and give a candy cake a try!

Do you think a candy is a bit over the top?

  • Yes, I prefer cake without embellishments.
  • No, Bring it on!

Some beautiful cakes. They look wonderful. Voted up for whimsy!

I doubt that they are completely edible?

How does that Candy Man song go: "...You can even eat the dishes..."

Hi Inda, again, your cakes are fabulous. I wish you lived near me, I would have you make all my cakes. lol However, I don't think I would want to ruin one of your fabulous cakes but cutting into it.

Blessings to you.
