S'mores Made With Chocolate Chip Cookies, M&M's, and Marshmallows

Chocolate Chip-M&M Smore

What could top a day better than warming up with a cup of hot chocolate and a S'more, after hanging out in the snow.

Family Fun for all occasions.

Nothing can describe the experience of your first smore. Roasting the marshmallow over an open flame. Slabs of gram crackers prepped with chunks of Hershey’s chocolate bars. Marshmallows oozing out the sides as one smashes the crackers, chocolate and marshmallows together for a mouth watering treat. These little morsels are often associated with summer and camp outs, but really can be enjoyed any time of the year.

I remember as a child, with my mother’s supervision, my siblings and I roasting marshmallows over the open flame of the gas stove when the urge for a sugar rush hit. Squeals of delight erupted as we sat on the floor devouring each gooey crumb.

Recently my sister and I passed this wonderful experience on to our children. We put a slight twist on the traditional style.

The kids loved making these after a day in the snow and a hot cup of hot chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 1 package chocolate chip cookies
  • 1 bag M&M's
  • 1 bag carmel-vanilla flavored marshmallows

Step one:

Start by prepping the cookie, making sure you have a top and a bottom. Lay the cookies down with the bottom facing up. (Any kind of cookie will work, as long as it is flat on one side...i.e. sugar, chocolate chip, gingersnap, etc.)

Step two:

Next you will need to add a small amount of M&M's to one side of the cookie. Beware, they will love to roll off. This will be a challenge for small fingers.

Step three:

Roast a marshmallow over an open flame of the fireplace. When small children are doing this, it is best to have a parent close by to supervise. We used caramel-vanilla flavored marshmallows for our s'mores. Any flavored marshmallow will work.

Step four: The final product

Gently place the hot marshmallow over the M&M's, using the other cookie to squish them together. Caution! The marshmallow will be hot and will burn small fingers, so always have the parents help with this part of the process!

The Smore

I was introduced to smores by a Mennonite family working in Swaziland some years ago and I'm delighted to find your recipes here! Thank you.

Love and peace

Totally awesome variation on smores! I have 4 kids - and we have lots of snow here! I already have the ingredients... (all we need to do is bake the chocolate chip cookies). At our home, we have dark chocolate M&Ms - my son's favorite. We'll make these this weekend!

Thanks Steph, I was visiting my sister when I came up with this idea to entertain the boys. I am always a bad influence when it comes to spoiling them. On this particular day I thought it would be a blast to roast marshmallows in the fireplace. The idea for the smores took off from there.

I'm sure kids would love this. Even I'm craving for some sweets! As what we say in the Philippines, this recipe really looks "masarap"! Voted this one up and shared with my hub friends!

Thanks Beingwell, My sister and I were trying to entertain her children that day that I came up with this idea. They loved it so much that it became a tradition in her house when the snow starts to fly. Thanks for the vote up and stopping by.

Stopped by to see what was new with you and found this gem of a recipe. I'm having a sugar craving and this looks like it will hit the spot nicely. Can't wait to try it.

Thanks Susan, I have been tempted to do this with my own fireplace when my kids come up for a visit. It seemed like an extra special thing to do for the holidays. Careful though, they are addictive!
