Chocolates taste divine
Chocolate is made from cocoa beans found on the pods that grow on cocoa tree. Today most of the world’s chocolate is grown in west Africa and in Brazil.
Chocolate is combined with vanilla and other flavourings and sugar and milk to give a concoction which is very very tasty. In ancient times it used to be made into a chocolate drink which the Emperors called a divine drink which fights fatigue and builds up resistance.
Chocolate can be made into a beverage or a solid or cocoa powder. Stimulant effects of chocolate are due to its caffeine content.
Benefits of chocolate:
- It acts as a mood elevator in most people
- It contains various anti-oxidants
- It tastes great
- It creates a feeling of well-being.
Drawbacks of chocolate:
- It is very high in fat and calories content
- It may trigger migraine headaches
At the room temperature chocolate is in solid form. Its melting point is very low, if fact it is a little lower than human body temperature, so it melts and releases its flavours as soon as it is put into the mouth.
Chocolate is not a good source of nutrients but one can eat a limited amount of chocolate especially the dark variety.
30 grams of solid chocolate contains about 150 calories and 2 to 3 grams of protein. It contains significant amounts of vit E and B. It contains Magnesium, Phosphorous and Potassium. But, large amounts of fats and calories make chocolate an undesirable source of these minerals except in emergency times.
White chocolate is a mixture of cocoa butter, milk solids and sugar. It contains no cocoa solids. Unlike milk chocolate, white chocolate does not keep well as it lacks the compounds that prevent milk solids from turning rancid over time.
In modern times, the different forms of chocolates are an endless temptation for its pleasurable taste. In the present times chocolates are available in different forms at very economical rates. If you feel like indulging in a chocolate treat but are on a lookout for diet control and are actually counting your calory intake you can choose a small sized chocolate treat at a really economical rate and feel the goodness of it. This satifies and is not an indulgence at the same time.
Chocolate is a great mood elevator. It dispels depression and blue mood. It can be consumed in a solid form, normal or cold..... regular cube form, choco cake, or coco ice cream. Or, as a liquid ..... hot or cold ..... drinking choocolate, or coco milk shake. The temptations are innumerable .....
