About Les Dames D'Escoffier International
Les Dames D'Escoffier International is the premier professional organization for women who are professionals in the culinary and hospitality industries. The group's membership roster includes many world renowned chefs, well-known restaurateurs, winemakers, individuals who are part of the food media, culinary educators, and others who are the life blood of these professions.
The organization began in 1973. Prior to that time the only professional organization for the culinary and hospitality professions was Les Amis D'Escoffier, with membership only open to men working in the profession. The new organization experienced growth over the years and by early in the 21st Century had expended to more 27 chapters in North America, with more than 1,300 members.
The organization's membership boasts an impressive membership roster, featuring the movers and shakers in the culinary and hospitality fields who are responsible for setting many of the culinary trends that impact the way Americans eat today.
In addition to providing professional development opportunities for culinary experts, Les Dames D'Escoffier International also provides assistance to those entering the profession, including providing scholarships and grants for training and mentoring opportunities.
