Making Montreal Steak Seasoning

I really love making my own spices that's the reason I started my own company but to be honest with you the spices I create at home are not like the ones that we create at my company because I create my spices at home to suit my taste buds ...Now don't get me wrong I love the spices we make at my company but they are made to please everybody who buys them... Well that s the concept, but when I do it for me ....it's for me that way I get a chance to play around with the flavor profile to suit my taste by adding and taking away things I like most and things I don't like and I have fun doing it also.

Let me be the first to tell you that the spices that you create at home are not going to be like the ones you buy in the store they should be better because your making what you like and the spice companies they are giving you what they think you will like and I say this for a few reasons ......When we make the spices at my company we create all natural spices nothing artificial no preservatives we start with fresh ingredients then take them through a natural process then prepare them to our customers specifications but when you buy spices, seasonings and dry herbs they have some type of chemical to keep then fresh while being on the store shelf but if you make them yourself at home or blend them your getting a whole better product and even a more healthier one. The basic ingredients of making Montreal steak seasoning including garlic, coriander, black pepper, Cayenne pepper flakes, dill seed, and salt but these basic ingredients varies slightly because every one is trying to have their own version and later in this blog I will share with you my homemade version of my Montreal steak seasoning.

The History Of Montreal Steak

Some of my readers know but I own a small spice company and I know a little bit about spices and blends and if your using some Montreal steak seasoning the right way you have some good eating coming out of what ever your preparing. Montreal steak seasoning was created at Schwartz's deli in the late 1940's or early 1950's were they used the spice for pickling and seasoning some of there meats

Montreal steak seasoning really started getting popular in Montreal in there local deli's an steak houses because the steak houses use it when they were smoking there meats. To me Montreal steak really adds flavor to any kind of meat not just steaks like, chicken, corn beef , even pork chops, I have even used it in my turkey burger mixture and mixed in in my breading to make some crusted salmon so I'm telling you it's not just for steaks. When I'm on my grill I have use Montreal steak seasoning on veggies and grilled them and also on my twice baked potatoes and if you really want to enhance the flavor of a piece of meat just add some olive oil in with the spice and make it to make a paste then rub it on the meat of your choice then let it sit over night then cook as you desire All I can say is that your in for some good eating if you cook what ever your rub low and slow so the juices can work together.

I'm telling you if you love cooking and creating your own flavor profiles then spices, herbs and seasonings are the way to begin because they are the first thing that you go to when your adding flavor to any dish your making because I don't know anyone who does not add some kind of flavor to what there cooking.
