Cricut Cake Machine Review, Is It Worth the Price?
Luke, I am your father!
Cricut Cake Machine
Sometimes in life you have to learn to love and except short cuts. This is something I'm learning to do. For me personally I feel pride in cooking from scratch, DIY projects, and spending hours and hours of cake decorating time cutting out each and every little polka dot, butterfly, stripe, etc.. one by one by one. Sometimes it's a good thing. Self reliance. That feeling of accomplishment when it's done......3 days later. It's only when you learn a really cool short cut that you ask your self,
"What was I thinking?!?!?!?!?"
We live in a wonderful time when new inventions and short cuts are being made everyday, so I might as well jump down off of my high horse and use them.
Let's rewind back to that lovely little list of pride I just typed. You know that part about cutting cake decorations? Well, I have just recently purchased my self decorating time in a bottle. The Cricut Cake Machine from Prove Crafts has come down in price significantly in the past several months. In years past I would stare at it longingly in craft store windows and groan at the $600 price tag. Now you can find the Cricut Cake Machine for under $200 easily.
How does it work?
I was a little wary at first. I called my husband down to set up my beautiful red machine because well... when it comes to machinery, I'm not the brightest crayon in the box. However, after waiting 3 whole minutes of toe tapping patience I just couldn't take it anymore! I ripped open that package and set it up myself. To tell the truth it wasn't very hard. I just followed the simple directions and had it on and running within 10 minutes. It's OK if you feel impressed that. This video is a great rundown of the machine and how to use it.
Now, the machine does have a learning curve to it. As I've used it for a few different projects I've gotten a feel for which shapes need to be made larger and which are quite adorable small. Some of the designs cannot do both. You also learn how to better load the mat with fondant and where to trim the sides better the more you experiment. So, if you don't like playing around with cake stuff....this isn't the product for you.....but seriously, who doesn't?!?!
This machine would also be great even if you aren't a pro at decorating. It does all the hard work for you. Your friends and family will be amazed at your cakes, and you'll save money in the long run by creating your own masterpieces for special occasions instead of paying $3 - $8 a slice. Anyone can use this machine.
This Cricut Cake Machine really is a time saver and anyone can do it. What used to take me hours takes me minutes to do now. I can crank out 50 fondant butterflies for cupcakes in 2 minutes. I've made cool words and banners even with a duel colored shadow effect. You can even create shapes in various sizes for a cool background like the stars on the top Star Wars cake. I would definitely recommend the Cricut Cake Machine to anyone who loves cake decorating. Just take the short cut, and then do something productive with all your extra time....like taking a well deserved nap!
