Assorted Curry Paste Recipes

Curry pastes come in many different flavors and colors they can be used in many different dishes from meat to vegetarian.  The curry paste gives a dish its heat and ramps up the flavor for any entree or appetizers you make.  Here is a list of a few curry paste recipes that you can try out for yourself.

Balti Curry Paste Recipe


4 tablespoons of coriander seeds

2 tablespoons cumin seeds

2 crumbled cinnamon sticks

2 teaspoons of fennel seeds

2 teaspoons of black mustard seeds

2 teaspoons cardamom seeds

1 teaspoon fenugreek

6 gloves of garlic


In a small fry pan over medium heat, take each spice one at a time and heat 2 - 3 minutes until they become aromatic.

Transfer spice to a food processor or a mortar and pestle, cool then grind spice to a fine powder.

Add 20 fresh curry leaves, 4 fresh bay leaves, 1 tablespoon of ground turmeric, 2 crushed cloves of garlic, 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger, 1 1/2 teaspoons chilli powder and 3/4 cup malt vinegar.  Mix Well

Heat 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in a frying pan, add paste, cook for about 5 minutes then add 1/4 cup malt vinegar.

Vindaloo Curry Paste Recipe


2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger

4 chopped cloves of garlic

4 chopped red chillies

1 tablespoon of ground coriander

1 tablespoon of cumin seeds

2 tablespoons of ground turmeric

2 tablespoons of ground cardamom

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

6 peppercorns

1/2 cup cider vinegar


Mix in a food processor for about 30 seconds to a minutes until combined and smooth.
