Forget about it Mac 'n' Cheese

You have to agree that mac 'n' cheese is one of the most liked foods to eat from young to old. Yes there are probably countless variations on how to make mac 'n' cheese, but I have a simple recipe that only takes minimal time to set-up. Once ready to go, the mac 'n' cheese will be on its own for several hours. The recipe follows below.

Ingredients

1 package elbow macaroni (16ounces)

1/2 cup margarine or butter

1 can evaporated milk (12 ounces)

2 eggs (beaten)

1 and 1/4 cup milk

4 and 1/4 cup medium cheddar cheese (shredded)

Preparation and cooking instructions

Cook the macaroni according to instructions on package. Next drain completely and place in crock pot. Add the butter or margarine. Do not turn on crock pot yet. In bowl mix the other ingredients, but only 3 cups of the cheese. Pour these ingredients over the macaroni and cook for 4 hours on low heat. After this time, add the remaining cheese on top and let the mac 'n' cheese cook for about twenty minutes longer; enough time for the cheese to melt. The meal is ready to serve.

Yes, you have to use enough cheese - I like the extra sharp cheese. This sounds great. It's hard to find a perfect mac and cheese so you have to make it yourself.

Thanks a lot$$$$

Hi earnestshub, who dosen't love mac 'n' cheese. Sometimes at the end I add either cooked ham or chicken, but any meat of your choice would be great.

BKCreative, cheese does make the dish, and sharp cheddar is fine also. Sometimes I mix the medium and sharp.

Hi Tri-mom, I agree you can't go wrong with the mac and cheese unless you just dry it out, then it's not good. Anyway thanks for stopping by and youay want to try the evaporated milk. It's really good.

Thanks, I like it too and will try this. I like sharp too, but wee one doesn't, so I always use her choice, but I use sharp for me on things she won't eat.
