Frank's Red Hot Sauce - A Family Favorite!

Alright people, my favorite condiment of all time has got to be Franks Hot Sauce, hands down. It's a big part of my life actually, no joke! We have the huge, gargantuan bottle in the fridge, because my husband got tired of buying SO many bottles of that stuff for my older son and myself. So one day he brings home this huge bottle, and you can imagine my excitement! He just rolled his eyes and sighed and gave a half sideways smile.

So what is the big deal anyway? Well, it all started when I was still living in California, and we would go to this one restaurant on occasion, called Claim Jumpers. I fell in love with buffalo wings at a Mexican restaurant, but it was all over when I tried the hot wings at Claim Jumpers. Its the kind of "hot" that if you are leaning over your plate when they bring it out, even a little, you start to cough, because its so spicy! Inhale, cough, inhale cough. Kid you not! I was simply in love, and got them time and again. I was hooked on an appetizer.

One day, I was getting ready to leave for college, and my best friend and I paid a last visit to Claim Jumper. I got my usual, and my friend told me to ask the lady, if I could have the recipe for their hot wings.... I said, "I can't ask her that, they will never share it." Though I wished... Well, I decided to tell her how much I loved the wings, and was going on about them. I hinted around how I would love to know how they made them, and she offered to go ask the cooks right then! She came back, and said , "Well you won't believe it, but the main ingredient they use is Franks Hot Sauce.... and that is all I can tell you." She was as surprised as me, that this was something that we could buy in the store? I am sure they did much more, as that restaurant is just awesome.

Needless to say, I went and got some, and had to try my hand at making my own buffalo wings. I did something incredibly novel..... I followed a recipe on the side of jar. I know, its crazy, and insane, but what had I to lose, right? Well, now I have a new favorite thing to cook, and doctor it up only barely from their recipe.

Frank's Hot Sauce's other uses This hot sauce, isn't only good on chicken wings, its good for dipping pizza in, any kind of chicken, including KFC's chicken, french fries, you name it. I haven't tried it on anything like a hot dog yet, but maybe in the future. Doesn't sound quite right to me yet. It was my son that heated up some of the hot sauce, with a dab of butter, and dipped his pizza in it first. I was so grossed out, and it seemed over the top. Don't tell anyone, but now I do this too, and we all laugh about it. Thus my husbands King Kong size purchase of Franks Hot Sauce. We may buy stock in the company soon, it seems very safe to me.

As you can see, I can get excited about even a condiment, but at least you know I am not kidding when I say its my favorite. I put a link to their website below, so you can learn more if you have never heard about it. As for yearly traditions, we break this stuff out at the Super Bowl every year now. Its as sure as Christmas or Thanksgiving around here.

Generally speaking, I love hot peppers, cayenne in particular, and am really impressed with their healing ability and health benefits. I firmly believe too, that we have only begun to realize the benefits of herbs and spices, and that in the future, we will see even more. I am hoping this will explain my addiction, and justify my love of Frank's hot sauce. (Am I sounding convincing at all, is it working? ha-ha) I can just say, It was my body craving a much needed pepper sauce!

A few other things you can use a spicy hot sauce with would be:

Ribs, Stir Fries, Shrimp, Dip, Salsa, Pizza, Burgers and Nachos, Salads, Kabobs, Fajitas, and Sandwiches. It does come in small bottles too, by the way. It will make you feel good!

One night, my son got some Frank's hot sauce out, and put some in a small bowl. I wondered what he was doing. He would dip a bite of his pizza into that hot sauce! I grimaced, and wondered what in the world are you doing? Well guess who else loves to dip her pizza into Frank's now? Yes, I cannot tell a lie!

I was once making one of our corn and black bean salads, which is one of my favorite salads to date. It is served cold. Well, imagine my surprise when it called for Frank's hot sauce! This isn't a joke, and you don't even taste it. It is a flavorful background ingredient, that pulls the rest of the things together. Its an incredible dish!

Would you believe me, if I told you that we have upgraded to sometimes getting the huge bottle of Frank's hot sauce at Sam's Club? We have actually finished one of those! I know it might sound crazy, but its the truth. Its a great value for your dollar, if you can use it.
