Hot N' Spicy Green Tomato Soup Is So Delicious.
Here we have Hot N' Spicy Green Tomato Soup that is so delicious and tasty.
1. Two Pounds Green Tomatoes Peeled And Diced In Small Pieces.
2. One Four Ounce Can Green Chilies.
3. One Cup Sweet Onion Diced Fine.
4. One Tablespoon Fresh Minced Garlic.
5. Two Bay Leafs.
6. Thirty Two Ounces Chicken Stock.
7. One Fourth Cup Finely Diced Pancetta.
8. One Large Jalapeno With Seeds And Stem Removed And Diced Fine.
9. Two Teaspoons Hot Sauce.
10. Cilantro Oil For Garnish. , Recipe Below.
Cook the Pancetta until it is crisp and golden brown. Put on paper towels to drain. Put ingredients 1-9 except the pancetta you just cooked into a stock pot and bring to a boil. After the ingredients come to a boil turn down to a low medium and cook for one hour. After this time all of your ingredients should be done. Let the soup cool to room temperature and then puree it smooth in your blender.
Pour all the soup back in the stock pot after you have pureed it smooth. Bring almost back to a boil and then turn down to a low simmer. When your ready to serve put a circle of the cilantro oil and some crumbles of the pancetta in each bowl as you serve the soup.
Cilantro Oil Recipe
1. Two Cups Of Fresh Cilantro With Tough Stems Removed.
2. One Cup Vegetable Oil.
3. One Teaspoon Sea Salt.
You'll want to blanch your cilantro by submerging it in boiling water for about 10 minutes. Then remove it from the boiling water and allow it to drain well.
Add the cilantro, oil, and salt to a blender and puree very smooth. You just made cilantro oil that will add a lot of depth and flavor to your green tomato soup.
Just carefully pour a circle of the cilantro oil in each bowl of soup and then add a few crumbles of the pancetta.
In case you don't know pancetta is Italian bacon that is cured with peppercorns. It is delicious when fried to a crisp golden brown.
If you want to do a vegetarian soup leave the pancetta out.
Fried Green Tomato BLT
Cook your fried green tomatoes by the recipe to the left. You'll want a loaf of sourdough bread and you'll want to slice it in thick slices so they will be easy to work with while your making your sandwiches.
Once you have your green tomatoes fried and well drained butter your sourdough bread slices on one side and put the sandwich together with a couple of slices of fried green tomato, crisp fried bacon, and several lettuce leaves in each sandwich. Put mayonnaise on both sides of the bread that is going to be inside your sandwich. The bread should be buttered on the outside on the bread.
Heat a non stick skillet up to medium heat and fry each sandwich in the skillet first on one side and then on the other side so the sandwich gets fried brown on each side. As soon as the sandwich is browned on each side remove it from the skillet and allow it to set a few minutes before you slice it in half and serve it.
This will truly be one of the best sandwiches you'll ever make and eat in your life. Yes they really are that good. To kick your fried green tomato blt's up a notch or two add a layer of fresh basil leafs and a slice of Munster Cheese to each sandwich when your making them.
Fried Green Tomato Club Sandwich
You can make a club sandwich in the usual way with bacon, turkey, ham, cheese, and lettuce and add a couple of slices of fried green tomato to each sandwich as you are putting them together. You won't believe how great this sandwich tastes. I've made them for many people over my many years of being a Chef and people just love them.

The fried green tomato has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember all the way back into my childhood. I remember my Grandmother Hattie Propst making fried green tomatoes and also my Mom, Virginia Walker. My Grandmother has passed away and my Mother Virginia Walker has also. Both ladies were great cooks and taught me much about cooking. I remember them both making fried green tomatoes and I would keep a close eye on the green tomatoes waiting for them to get big enough to make fried green tomatoes with.
My Grandmother Hattie also made a green tomato apple pie that was one of the most delicious pies you'll ever taste and it's easy to make and oh so delicious.
If you've never had fried green tomatoes then you should give them a try. I've even went as far as to cut my green tomatoes up into stick like shapes, breaded them and deep fried them into green tomato fries and the people I made them for loved them. I like to make all kinds of unusual recipes and I always think outside the box and try to make over recipes so that people look at it, taste it and go Wow, why didn't I think of that.
Down through the years I tried to come up with a really great recipe for fried green tomatoes and a few years ago I came up with the below delightfully delicious recipe that anyone and everyone just simply loves. Make the below recipe for fried green tomatoes and let me know how they turned out for you.
For Your Recipe You Will Need.
1. 2 Large Eggs Well Beaten.
2. 1 Cup Of Buttermilk.
3. 1 Cup All Purpose Plain Flour.( Divided )
4. 1 Cup Of Self Rising Cornmeal.
5. 2 Teaspoons Fresh Ground Sea Salt.
6. 2 Teaspoons Fresh Ground Black Pepper.
7. 6 Large Green Tomatoes Sliced Thin.
Combine your egg and buttermilk and set aside.
Combine 1/2 Cup all purpose plain flour, the cornmeal, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper in a mixing bowl.
Now you will want to first place your tomato slices into first the remaining flour , now into the well mixed egg and buttermilk mixture and now into the cornmeal mixture and fry in a skillet preheated to 375 degrees. Fry your tomatoes until golden brown on both sides and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle your just fried hot fried green tomatoes with fresh ground sea salt.
Serve at once.
Fried Green Tomato Sandwiches
Recently I did a lunch party for some friends of mine who are vegetarians and they asked me if I could come up with a delicious new sandwich for them. Keeping in mind that they wanted it to be vegetarian.
I cut the green tomatoes in a little thicker slices than usual and I breaded them by the above recipe and deep fried them golden brown and a little crisp. I drained my fried green tomatoes on paper towels and then I thought why not. So I fried portobello mushrooms in the same breading and drained them. I put the sandwich together on rye bread with lettuce, tomato, and red sweet onion and I had a stacked up sandwich. I fried each sandwich in butter until it was golden brown on each side and then I cut them in half. I served these sandwiches with Oven Home Fries and they were delicious.
These sandwiches turned out just perfect. You want to fry your fried green tomatoes and your portobello mushrooms up quickly and then you want to put the sandwiches together quickly and fry them so they will turn out just perfect.
The group I made this sandwich for said it was one of the best sandwiches that they had ever had. The sandwich turned out perfect and the oven fries did to. They were delicious made in the oven and they had a wonderful flavor. If you have an ideal about a recipe give it a try because you never know what kind of a delicious creation you can come up with.

Here were going to make our fried green tomatoes exactly how they would have been made back in the old days in New Orleans. I remember eating fried green tomatoes back when I was a child on my Grandfathers farm in North Carolina. My Grandma Hattie and my mom Virginia Walker liked to spice things up when they made most of their recipes.
My Grandmother Hattie always let the tomatoes she was going to fry start to turn just slightly towards getting ripe and then we would pick the tomatoes and she would fry them up and oh man they were so delicious.
Ingredients Needed For Your Fried Green Tomatoes
1. Four Large Green Tomatoes Just Starting to turn red.
2. One Half Cup All Purpose Plain Flour. Do not use self rising.
3. One Half Cup Yellow Corn Meal.
4. One Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.
5. One Teaspoon Powdered Garlic.
6. One Teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper.
7. One Teaspoon Ground White Pepper.
8. Two Cups Buttermilk.
9. Two Cups Vegetable Oil.
10. One Large Egg.
How To Make Your Fried Green Tomatoes
You want to start with four large green tomatoes that are just starting to turn from green to red. If the tomato is ripe or all red its too late. Cut your tomatoes into one fourth inch slices.
Combine your dry ingredients in a large bowl making sure that everything gets very well mixed together.
Pour your buttermilk out into a large bowl and whisk your large egg into the buttermilk being sure that you get everything very well mixed together.
You want to start by dipping your sliced tomatoes into the well mixed buttermilk and egg mixture and then after you make sure the pieces are very well mixed together dip them into the dry mixture and pat the mixture into the tomato slices to make sure that the tomato slices get very well coated with the flour and cornmeal mixture.
Have your vegetable oil heated to around 350 degrees and then shake each breaded tomato slice off to get rid of excess breading. Fry your breaded tomato slices until golden brown on each side and then drain well on paper towels.
Listen to me now. These fried green tomato slices with a little bit of Cajun fire from the seasonings on them makes them into one of the most delicious things you will ever eat.
Oven Fried Green Tomatoes Are So Delicious.
Oven Fried Green Tomatoes
Here were going to be cooking our fried green tomatoes in the oven. You really need tomatoes that are just about to start turning from green to red. You'll find that these will have the best flavor. I made these just a few minutes ago and I really think they are so delicious.
Needed For Your Oven Fried Green Tomatoes
1. Six Slightly Ripe Green Tomatoes.
2. One Cup Yellow Corn Meal.
3. One Cup Flour.
4. One Half Cup Panko Bread Crumbs.
5. Two Teaspoons Celery Salt.
6. One Level Teaspoon Paprika.
7. One Teaspoon Ground White Pepper.
8. Two Eggs.
9. Two Cups Buttermilk.
10. One Can Spray Vegetable Spray.
Mix all your dry ingredients in one bowl. In another bowl mix together the buttermilk and the eggs being sure that they get very well mixed together.
Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.
Use a cookie sheet and spray it with the vegetable cooking spray.
Cut your green tomatoes into one fourth inch slices and pat dry with paper towels.
Mix all your dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Put your eggs and butter milk into a blender and mix very well together. Pour out into a large bowl.
Now dip your tomato slices into the buttermilk and egg mixture and then into the dry mixture. Shake each slice off to make sure any excess breading gets shook off.
Place your breaded tomato slices on the cookie sheet and cook until you see them get brown. Flip the slices over with the spatula and brown on that side. Do not overcook the oven fried tomato slices.
You can keep these warm on the baking pan in a 200 degree oven. Put a slice of Mozzarella cheese on each slice of oven fried tomato on the baking sheet. These taste wonderful on pan toasted thick slices of sour dough bread. Add mayonnaise to the bread and you'll have one of the most wonderful sandwiches you'll ever eat in your life.
