The Easiest Microwave Chocolate Fudge Recipe Ever!

Delicious chocolate fudge recipe...

My daughters learnt to make this at school and I must confess that as well as being simple and quick to make it is alarmingly moreish! Probably not a good idea to make it if you are trying to diet, because despite its cloying sweetness it is smooth and delicious and in our house we can plough through a whole tray in just a couple of days.

I have always shied away from making fudge with my children for the simple reason that I remember it being so very difficult to make. My friends and I used to make it at university but the recipe we used then involved seemingly hours of boiling sugar. This recipe by contrast uses a microwave and absolutely no saucepans whatsoever! It is so very easy and takes only minutes to make and your children will LOVE your for it...although your jeans may not!!

Microwave chocolate fudge! What's not to love??

Easy Chocolate Fudge

The Recipe

  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 140g margarine
  • 1 tin condensed milk (395g size)
  • 250g packet of chocolate bits

Make Your Fudge Into A Delicious Gift!

  1. Place sugar, margarine and condensed milk in a large glass microwaveable bowl
  2. Cook in microwave on high for 8 minutes, stopping to stir with a wooden spoon twice.
  3. Remove from microwave and stir in chocolate bits until all melted- be careful the sugar mixture is HOT.
  4. Pour into a well greased tray and leave to set
  5. Cut into 2cm squares
  6. Enjoy!!

I have found that a standard 250g bar of chocolate broken into squares also works just as well as chocolate bits.

This fudge really is easy and delicious and wrapped in cellophane and tied with a ribbon makes a fantastic gift or offering for a cake stall.

I hope you enjoy my fudge recipe as much as my family and I do. I was very, very skeptical when my daughter brought home the recipe but I can PROMISE you that this recipe is utterly delicious, sweet, rich and creamy, just as fudge should be!

Making Fudge With Children...

Fudge is a great recipe to make with your kids but please be aware that when the sugar mixture comes out of the microwave it is hot!

With my children, I let them do all of the weighing and measuring before the mixture goes into the microwave. I also let them scrape the bowl at the end when it has cooled down. However, when the mixture is fresh from the microwave they are allowed to watch only!

I know that it is important to let your children learn, but hot melted sugar really can give some nasty burns so please supervise carefully if you let your children make this...

Of course, my childrens' favorite job is being my chief taste testers!
