Gluten Free Banana Bread Mix Review - Simply Organic Gets 5 stars!

Who doesn't love a perfectly moist banana bread? Last week, I made an awesome discovery in the organics section at my local grocery store. I discovered a brand called 'Simply Organic' that happens to make organic baking mixes. Oh, I should mention that they are also gluten free and low-fat, at that! This is an added bonus for me as I try to eat mostly organic food and I have gluten sensitivities. As you're probably aware, many gluten free foods are unfortunately heavily processed.

I decided to purchase 'Simply Organic' gluten free banana bread mix since I had a few extra bananas to use and made it that night. One box only cost around $4 and some change, which I think is a great price for an organic and gluten free baking mix!

One box makes a large loaf and I was able to get about 15, 1/2" slices.

The taste

You could easily trick someone and they'd have no idea this is a gluten free product. The taste is amazing, just like regular banana bread with cinnamon.

The texture

Not wanting to gorge myself on banana bread, which would probably be o.k. since one piece is only around 90 calories, I individually froze the slices. They freeze incredibly well. I've had banana bread almost every morning and simply defrost in the microwave on high for 10 seconds. The texture is moist and fluffy.

The baking process

All you need is two eggs, 3/4 cup of water and two ripe bananas. Because there is no oil or butter needed, I am excited to say that this is the first banana bread that I've ever been able to eat that didn't give me acid reflux. The baking time takes about 50-60 minutes.

The ingredients

As I said earlier, this is a gluten free, certified organic and fair-trade product. The ingredients are pretty simple (for a boxed mix):

"Ingredients: Organic rice flour, organic Fair Trade Certified cane sugar, xanthan gum, monocalcium phosphate, organic cinnamon, organic cornstarch, baking soda, sea salt, organic allspice."

The end results

My overall impression about this banana bread is that it's a great addition to any gluten free and/or organic diet. It freezes well and defrosts quickly, so there is no reason why you can't have banana bread whenever you feel like it! If you were to compare this gluten free banana bread, side-by-side to a regular banana bread, I truly don't think you'd notice a difference, whether it be the taste or the texture.

Simply Organics also makes other gluten free baking mixes, including carrot cake and cocoa cayenne cupcakes. I've tried those too, am a huge fan and am really glad that I discovered this wonderful product line. I have an ample amount of gluten free baked goods stored in my freezer that I enjoy almost daily thanks to Simply Organic!
