Gluten Free Beer Brands

There are a lot of gluten free beer options available

Fear not: there are so many brands of gluten free beer available that no beer lover on a gluten free diet needs to worry about feeling deprived.

Most beer is NOT gluten free. Gluten is not only found in wheat, it is also found in barley, hops, and other grains. When these are used in the manufacture of beer, they leave behind measurable amounts of gluten in the final product.

The same is true for so-called “alcopop” and other malt beverages. Drinks like Mike’s Hard Lemonade and Smirnoff Ice are NOT gluten free. They are made with a mixture of a flavored beverage (like lemonade) on an unflavored malt liquor base. Malt liquor is NOT gluten free.

As always, product and ingredients change all the time. Be sure to check the label to verify that it is still gluten free before you imbibe.
