Easy, Delicious French Toast Recipe

How Do I Make French Toast?

French Toast is not only a delicious breakfast, it is also surprisingly easy to make! There are a variety of variations in French Toast recipes, and with time you will surely develop your own special method. Many people suggest making French Toast with stale bread because the bread will soak up more of the custard mixture. Fresh bread will do the trick just fine as well!

Make Quick & Easy French Toast

You can use regular thin slices of bread for French Toast, or you can use thick Texas Toast style bread for a heartier serving. To make French Toast for 4 people (2 slices each), you will need the following ingredients:

8 slices of bread

4 eggs

2 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp butter

1/4 cup milk or half&half

Optional: Feel free to spice up your French Toast with things like cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, rum or brandy! For holiday-style French Toast you can use eggnog by itself as the custard.

French Toast Preparation

1. Heat skillet to medium-low heat.

2. Beat eggs; mix sugar, half & half, and vanilla.

3. Pour mixture into bowl.

4. Melt butter onto skillet.

5. Soak slices in egg mixture.

6. Place slices on griddle until edges are golden brown, and then flip.

7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

I like your French Toast recipe, it looks delicious. How much half & half do you use? I see half & half in the preparation steps but it is not listed in the ingredients.

Good call! I usually use around 1/4 of a cup to make the egg mixture a bit thicker & richer. However you can also use a bit of milk or leave it out altogether and just use the egg as the custard. Whatever you prefer!

French toast is one of my favorite things for breakfast. Sometimes I add some honey for some more difference in flavor.
