How to Make a Grilled Cheese Sandwich - Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipes

Grilled Cheese Sandwich on French Bread - Serves 4

3 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
garlic powder
French bread, cut into 8 slices (Foccacia bread is delicious, too!)
butter

Mix the softened cream cheese and mozzarella together until smooth in a bowl.

Butter the slices of bread. Spread the mixture on half of the French bread slices. Sprinkle each slice with garlic salt. Top each bread slice with the other slices.

Put the bread into a skillet on medium heat, buttered side down. Brown on both sides, until cheese melts and bread is browned, about 10 minutes.

These are really good dunked in warmed pizza sauce or marinara sauce! Or try adding sliced tomatoes. Also, try other cheeses. Cheddar is pretty good.

Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwich on Rye- Makes 1 Grilled Cheese Sandwich

1 slice each: Cheddar, Provolone, and Swiss cheese (or your choice)
2 slices rye bread
butter

Butter each bread slice. Put the cheese slices on top of one slice, and then top that with the other slice of rye bread.

Brown on the stove over medium heat until the cheese melts and the bread browns.

Delicious! If you're not a cheese lover, don't try these grilled cheese sandwiches, as they are literally oozing with melted cheese! Try adding bacon and a sliced tomato for sandwich heaven.

Grilled cheese sandwiches don't have to be made on the stove, by the way. They can easily be made in a toaster oven. Just butter the bread and put the sandwich in the oven until done.

Grilled Cheese Sourdough Sandwiches - Makes 1 Sandwich

2 slices sourdough bread
1 slice each: American and Cheddar Cheese
grated parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon
butter, about 2 tablespoons
garlic powder

Take half of the butter and mix with the parmesan cheese. Butter both both bread slices with the butter parmesan mixture on one side. Sprinkle with garlic powder. Butter the other sides with plain butter.
Add the other cheese slices to one slice.
Top with the other slice of sourdough bread.
Put the bread in the skillet with the plain buttered sides down.
Brown in a skillet on medium heat, until the bread is browned on both sides and the cheeses melt.

These are great with tomato soup or adding a sliced tomato.
