How to make white cake frosting

White cake frosting is one of the conventional frosting made for cakes. It is inexpensive and very easy to make. Below are four recipes for white cake frosting, but have a little bit of differences from one another. You can try and experiment with each of the recipes and see which of them is your favorite.



What You Need:

1/2 cup shortening

1/4 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

4 tbsp. warm water

1 pack of confectioners' sugar


What To Do:

Prepare your bowl and wash it thoroughly, and make sure to dry it off. Pour the salt, shortening, water, vanilla, and sugar in that bowl. Grab your electric mixer and beat until light and fluffy.

Here is another slightly similar method:

What You Need:

1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons of flour
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

What To Do:

Mix the flour and the milk to make a sauce. Let is simmer in a pan, stirring it constantly, until it is thick. Set aside to cool.

Add the sugar and shortening to the prepared white sauce. Afterwards, add vanilla, use your electric mixer, and beat until light and fluffy.

This other variation is called White Fudge Frosting, with a little difference from the other recipes.

What You Need:

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ¾ cup confectioners' sugar

What To Do:

First, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat in your burner. When it has completely melted, remove from heat. Next, add the sugar and milk into the melted butter, stir well until properly blended. Return the saucepan in the burner and bring to a boil in medium heat. Remove from heat after boiling, and set aside to cool.

Add the confectioner’s sugar to the cooled mixture gradually. Beat well after each addition of sugar until the frosting is in a thick consistency. Add vanilla after the sugar is gone.

This recipe can cover the all sides of a two layer 8 inch cake.

This last recipe is called White Mountain Frosting.

What You Need:

1 egg white
3/4 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 c. boiling water

What To Do:

In a large bowl, mix the egg, sugar, tartar and vanilla. Afterwards, pour in the boiling water and beat the mixture with an electric mixer until it forms a stiff peak. Frost your cake when you are about to spread the frosting. Store the frosting in the fridge when not in use.
