I love sharing information with others as I learn new ways to save money without sacrificing taste, health, or sanity. Couponing is a great way to save money but it doesn't really help very much with the expense of meat. I do not like to compromise the quality of meat to save money. The most expensive staple in our house would have to be chicken breast. This week, our local grocer had boneless, skinless chicken breast for close to $5 a pound. My family is very small, so our grocery bills do not break the bank but I sympathize with those families that are larger. Chicken is a very versatile and lean meat. Depending on the recipe, it can be stretched to feed many but the expense just keeps rising.

The steady rising cost of meat is the main reason that I am very excited to share Zaycon Foods with you. Zaycon Foods brings you the same meats from the same farms that you are getting at your grocery stores. Here is the difference. These meats are delivered to your grocers or their processing locations in bulk packaging. The butchers then separates the meats and places them into individual, saran wrapped packages. They also bump up the price by a couple of dollars a pound. By purchasing thru Zaycon, you are eliminating the middle man and avoiding the bump in pricing.

So how do you purchase from Zaycon? I have provided the link to Zaycon Foods. They do what they call events. These events are planned well in advance, giving you plenty of time to prepare for them. Basically, the meat truck picks a location and you meet it to pick up your product. To find out the about the events you simply register to Zaycon's site and search your location for potential events. Registration is free. The meat is pre-ordered and pre-paid all online. Price, package size, and pick up location and details are all clearly displayed so there are no surprises. On the day of the event, all you have to do is pick it up and go. The meats come in bulk packages that will not be separated. Buying in bulk is nothing new to those of us who are always looking for savings but if you wanted a pound or two, this method will not work for you. My chicken is coming at a huge, enormous savings but I am getting 40 pounds of it. Even at 40 pounds, the total I will pay feels like nothing compared to what I already pay and it will last me a very long time. This boneless, skinless chicken breast is coming to me at $1.79 a pound! Supposing that the price of meat stays at its current price, this purchase is saving me a total of about $120. Each event features a specific meat. While there are several events per year, it is possible that each meat will be featured one or two times a year so it is actually good that they are sold in bulk.

Zaycon Foods may seem to be a well kept secret but it actually isn't. They have captured the attention of a great many frugal bloggers. They were also featured on television by shows like Good Morning America.

4/4/2013 update

It was easy pick up! You don't even have to get out of the car and they laid plastic under the box to protect my car! Talk about v.i.p. The chicken is so fresh! Tasted so different. Better! I don't think I have ever been this excited about chicken before. Oh the joys of adulthood!

Wish that Zaycon Foods has a branch in Malaysia. Then I could save some money on the chicken. Here 1kg chicken cost RM 6.99 ( RM1 = o.22 pound)

So, we rarely consume meat food, mostly vegetables and tofu and eggs. I think we are going vegetarian! Voted up

Nice to meet you Peachpurple. One thing I can say about you being forced to eat veggies and tofu is that it is said to be extremely healthy and your limitations may grant you a longer life than most americans.

Blessings to you and thank you for reading.

I keep forgetting. I'm not supposed to eat meat on Fridays (and to some extent Wednesdays). I'll get it.

As long as I can have tofu! Only on Good Fridays are we told not to have cheese. Probably better for my health.
