KitchenAid Mixer Food / Meat Grinder Attachment

If you want to take your KitchenAid Stand Mixer to the next level and can't decide which Kitchenaid mixer attachment to get (which is understandable since there are many different ones to choose from), you'll probably be interested to know that one of the best selling attachments is the KitchenAid food grinder (also called the meat grinder) attachment.

Let's face it. Today we are becoming more and more aware of the stuff that get's added to our foods - preservatives, artificial flavours, gums and more. Many people with sensitivities prefer to prepare their own foods too.

And let's not even mention bacteria & diseases such as mad cow or e-coli. Which is why many people want to prepare their own food as simply and hygienically as possible.

What can you 'grind' with the Food Grinder attachment?

Obviously the main food that is used is meat (beef, chicken, lamb, turkey) to make your own mince (ground meat) which you can then store in ziplock bags in your freezer or use straight away.

Bread also works really well to make breadcrumbs.

If you are making baby food it also is super handy as it can get fruits and vegetables really fine. (It's not as smooth as using a food processor, but can get foods quite smooth and lump free).

Many people have also suggested that cheese can be put through the grinder attachment as well for fine cheese (hard cheeses such as parmesan works especially well).

Is it easy to clean?

Yes all the parts are all washable and it comes apart very easily.  In fact all of the different Kitchenaid Mixer Attachments (as well as the mixer itself) clean easily and most parts can be placed in a dishwasher.

KitchenAid Coffee Grinder

Another great product from KitchenAid is the KitchenAid Coffee Grinder.

This is a serious grinder.  KitchenAid is known for it's sturdy construction and well designed products and the Burr Coffee Mill is no exception.

It's quite heavy so you probably want to keep in on your kitchen benchtop rather than lugging it in and out of the cupboard all the time.

It grinds beans very fine (many people say it's does it as well as Starbucks) so you can always have fresh tasting coffee.

The Kitchenaid grinder is great for mincing fresh meat for sausages and hamburgers for a barbeque. It would have to be the most useful of all of the kitchenaid stand mixer attachments that are available.
