Au fait

I know what you mean we're not up to 100, but it's hot and humid here. Thanks for the vote, share and pinned.

This makes me think of the drinks called Banshees that I loved. Haven't had one in at least 20 years. The ingredients are the same except instead of Creme de Menthe, use Creme de Banana. I bet this would be great at the end of one of our 100+ degree days here in Texas, whichever way you make it.

Voted this up, UI, pinned to my 'Drinks' board, and shared with followers.

This was one of my grandfather's favorite treats. I remember buying him a bottle of Crème De Menthe at Christmas. He would pour it straight over his vanilla ice cream. He loved it. This recipe brings back memories!

Sherry Hewins, I guess I could have come up with more words if I had really thought about it. The thing that always happens to me I put a hub up and than days later suddenly I remember things to say or something I forgot to say. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment.

It sounds refreshing and looks very pretty. 5oo words sounds like a lot for a recipe. I think it stands up very well on its own. Maybe if you told a story about where you got the recipe or something that happened once when you made it you could come up with that many words. I hate when people drag it out trying to get more words, get to the point I say.

Grasshopper you have picked a good drink and learned much!

Perfect recipe, with or without the liquor...really, what could be better than "make ahead". We always have so much to do when company's coming so make ahead is great!

Voted five stars, up, useful and interesting.

I love Grasshoppers. We have always made them by the glass in the magic bullet. And I love the version you have that is nonalcoholic. I always feel so bad when my kids want some of my grasshopper! Yummy!

Derdriu, Thank you for the votes and for stopping by. Glad you liked the recipe. Myself I like anything that has ice cream and whip cream in it. I think the porcupine picture is in my hub Wildlife On Our Old Farm. He's behind a little fence thing trying to get away from me.

Derdriu 4 years ago

Moonlake, Both recipes are wonderful, as are the original photos.

Up + UFABI.

Respectfully, and with many thanks for sharing such a delicious recipe, such a funny ending, and such pretty pictures, Derdriu

P.S. Do you still have the photos of the porcupine? Can they be used in a hub?

missolive, Thank you for stopping by. They would make a good Christmas drink. My husband use to make some kind of grasshopper drink during the holidays but it wasn't this one. I appreciate your comment.

missolive profile image

Ohhhhh you took may way back in time. My mom and grandmother used to make these during the holidays. They'd make the non-alcohol version for the kids.

Absolutely refreshing - thank you for sharing your recipe.

rebeccamealey, I bet your right. I did find out when I drink I talk a lot. That happened in 1966. My husband and my father-in-law kept handing me drinks. It was screw drivers. I thought they were just great tasting orange juice. I knew they had liquor in them but I didn't think it was that much. I had never been drunk. I got drunk, sick and never did it again. I decided right than I didn't like being drunk. I told my husband the other day I was going to rent myself out as designated driver to whoever needs a driver. ha

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your nice remarks.

I love your recipe and it is written in a cute and refreshing manner. Drink 2 or 3 of these (alcoholic version) and I'll bet you can come up with 500 words!

Peggy W profile image

I gave it 5 stars. Wow! I haven't had a grasshopper drink in decades but remember how delicious they are. Watching the calories now more than earlier. Something to do with "middle age spread." Actually I'm probably past that now since I get my senior citizen discounts. Ha!

hawaiianodysseus, No I've never written a hub on copyright infringement. Have you? I'm glad you like the non-alcoholic so many don't want alcohol in their drinks. I don't drink so I thought I better put the non-alcoholic on. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. I appreciate it.

Thanks so much for offering a non-alcoholic version! By the way , I was curious about the box at the end regarding copyright infringement. Have you ever written a Hub about that subject?

katyzzz, I'm a non-drinker also. Just change the Crème De Menthe with small amount of mint flavoring. The Crème De Cacao for coconut cream. Just as good. Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate it.

Modern Lady, Thanks so much for stopping by. It is so good with the cool whip but I like cool whip on anything. I leave out the liquor add a little mint flavoring .

Our kids and grandkids love this drink.

I grow mint in my garden.

Modern Lady profile image

Modern Lady 4 years ago from Chicago, IL

This is our traditional New Year's Eve drink. Not sure why, but I'll gladly drink it no matter the occasion. We skip the Cool Whip, add some ice in the blender, and garnish with a filbert. The mint leaves are much cuter though!
