Quite often your home oven will not be cooking at the temperature that the dial says it is. I suggest if your going to be doing much home baking that you purchase a heavy duty oven thermometer for your home oven and install it in the middle of the oven. Orange Crush Pound Cake is one of the most delicious things you will ever eat. I first had this cake in Miami and then over the years I have worked at refining my recipe for Orange Crush Pound Cake and I think I have come up with the perfect recipe for Orange Crush Pound Cake.
My friend just made this cake again the other night and it was the most amazing pound cake I have ever tasted. Even a few days later it was just simply wonderful. I heated a piece of the cake and had it with some coffee and it was one of the best things I have ever tasted. When my friend made the Orange Crush Pound Cake the crust on the cake made me think of drinking orange crush drinks out of the old brown bottles on the porch of my Grandfathers store all those years ago. If you love pound cake like I do you just have to make this cake. Its oh so wonderful.
The best Orange Crush Pound Cake has to have the wonderful taste of a orange crush and the cake has to be moist. If your Orange Crush Pound Cake is dry then you will never get the flavor you need to have the perfect Orange Crush Pound Cake,
I suggest you use all purpose plain flour to make your cake with but you will need to sift your all purpose plain flour at least five times for your cake to turn out right. You need a sifter that you can put your flour in to sift it and the best way to do this is to sift the flour into one bowl and then sift it from that bowl back and forth until your flour has been sifted at least five times. You have to sift the flour if you want to get the right consistency in your finished cooked cake.
The other thing is that you must have real orange crush soda to make your Orange Crush Pound Cake with. Other orange sodas will work but you will never have a true Orange Crush Pound Cake with out Orange Crush Soda.

If you will check in your supermarkets baking section you will see all kinds of spices and flavorings for sale there. You will want a bottle of the best orange flavoring they have for sale. Don't scrimp on price here. Sure they have a bottle of orange flavoring for $3. But I will bet you that the $7 bottle will produce a better flavor. And the better orange flavoring will give your Orange Crush Pound Cake a taste you won't soon forget.
When it comes to baking I stay away from store brands or no name brand products and go with name brand products only for my baking. 1. Two And Three Fourths Cup Of Sugar.
2. One Cup Vegetable Shortening.
3. One Stick Butter.
4. Five Large Eggs.
5. Three Cups All Purpose Flour Sifted Five Times.
6. One Level Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.
7. One Cup Orange Crush Soda.
8. One Teaspoon Orange Flavoring.
9. One Teaspoon Vanilla Extract.
The Secret Ingredient In This Cake
The secret ingredient in this cake is the Orange Flavoring. And you get what you pay for. You want to go to the section in your supermarket where the spices and flavorings are sold and you want to buy the best orange flavoring they have for sale there. If you have trouble finding it you will usually find it right there near the vanilla extract and yes you want the best
You will want to preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then with your electric hand mixer you will want to beat your sugar and shortening together until fluffy. Now you will want to add your eggs one at a time beating them in after you add each egg.
Add the rest of your ingredients and use your electric hand mixer to make sure everything is very well mixed together. Once you have all your ingredients very well mixed together you'll want to grease a loaf or pound cake pan very well and then put a tablespoon of all purpose flour in it and shake it around to coat your pan.
You will want to bake your cake for one hour and ten minutes in the center of a preheated 350 degree oven. Let your cake cool for about ten minutes and then turn your cake out onto a cake plate and spread the frosting below on your Orange Pound Cake while it is still warm.
Orange Crush Pound Cake Frosting
1. Eight Ounces Cream Cheese
2. One Cup Powdered Sugar.
3. One Teaspoon Vanilla Flavoring.
4. One Teaspoon Orange Flavoring.
Mix all your frosting ingredients together in a mixing bowl and spread the frosting on your Orange Crush Pound Cake
And guess what. You have just made the most delicious Orange Crush Pound Cake that you will ever get to eat. it is just simply wonderful. I think it is the best cake I have ever tasted.
