Pizza Recipe - with Tuna!

When I asked David, “What do you want to do for dinner tonight?”, the response was….tuna fish! Not tuna filets as I had originally thought, but canned tuna fish. Aside from tuna noodle casserole, I was at a loss. So we did a little internet search and of all things that came up was pizza!! We were feeling adventurous so we decided to head to the grocery store and buy our toppings, one of which was definitely going to be canned tuna.

We each made our own pizza and I included spinach, mushrooms, red bell peppers and tuna. David did a combo of tomatoes, mushrooms, red bell peppers, spinach, avocado and tuna. Both ended up being huge successes. The tuna was a nice “meat” addition and added a nice salty flavor to the pizza, which was really great. We’ll definitely be making homemade pizza again but given more time, I hope to make the crust from scratch next time.

Ingredients

  • Pizza crust (we used Whole Foods ready-made pizza crusts)
  • Pizza sauce
  • 1 can tuna in spring water
  • cheese (we used mozzarella and more parmesan for the top)
  • various toppings (peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc…have fun with it!)

Instructions

I think this one needs no explanation J  Break out a pizza shell and smother it with your favorite toppings.  Our pizza shell was cooked at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
