Potluck Recipe Ideas
In today's fast paced life entertaining is no longer the joy it used to be. While you may enjoy getting together with your friends and family for a meal it is simply not possible to put together lavish meals for them every week. That should not stop you from enjoying the company of people you love.
The solution is simple have a potluck party. As far as party ideas go it is a real winner. This involves each member of the party bringing some food dish with him to the party. Potluck recipes can be easy recipes that you can rustle up in no time. You don't have to slave hours over these quick recipes. Here I share some of my food recipes for a simple potluck party.
So you can have fun with these recipes. They are tried and tested ones which happen to be easy to carry over to another house where you may be attending a potluck party.
Mix one measure of lemon squash with two measures of orange squash in a large bowl. Add some juice of grated ginger and three measures of soda to this. Add lots of ice and you are set to go. This easy to make punch can be further decorated with finely chopped mint leaves and a sliver of lemon on the glass.
Take half kg of chicken mince and add one teaspoon ginger garlic paste to it. Add two finely chopped green chillies and a spoon of soya sauce to the mince mixture and leave to marinade for an hour. Make bread crumbs out of half a loaf of bread while the chicken rests. Chop one onion finely and stir fry it in a pan. Once it turns soft add the mince mixture to it. Cook the mince and dry up most of the water. Now add a teaspoon of garam masala (all spice powder) and tip in the bread crumbs. Mix well and fit it into a baking dish and top it off with some butter. Now bake the meatloaf for ten minutes and slice it up before serving.
You can use a simple flaky pastry to bake the pie base. The filling can be either vegetarian or non vegetarian. Try this vegetarian one as you already have meat loaf going. Slice up two onions, one capsicum, and three tomatoes. Stir fry them with a dash of salt, pepper and oregano.Steam some sweet corn and add to the mix. Add in three cubes of grated cheese and some milk. Let it steam for a minute and add into the prebaked quiche base. Your pie is ready.
Quick Dessert recipe
There is nothing that says end of meal like a good dessert. Here is a simple biscuit based pudding that is an instant hit. Use two packets of orange cream biscuits and crumble them.Add them to the base of the dish and sprinkle some milk to moisten them. Now take a tin of fruit cocktail and drain the sugar syrup. Add the fruit to the pudding bowl. Use an orange fruit cake, (Britania's will do), and crumble it over the fruit cocktail. Finish it off with sprinkling some sweetened condensed milk (Milkmaid is good). Chill in the fridge till ready to serve.
