Redneck Cuisine: A Quick Smoked Sausage Dinner
My wife usually is not home for dinner on Wednesdays but tonight she called early and said she was on her way home. I had to whip up something quick, so I dug through the freezer and found a pack of Eckrich Smoked Sausage. Hmmm. That’s a start I thought.
I sliced the sausages into 1/4 “ thick pieces and placed in a hot fry pan with a dab of cooking oil. Now I needed to spice it up a bit so I added a couple shakes of my wife’s Balsamic Vinegar, a couple of shakes of Worcestershire sauce and a splash of A1 Steak Sauce. I also found a bunch of green onions in the frig, so threw them in too. I fried it all up till the onions began to wilt away then I sprinkled on about two tablespoons of sugar then continued frying till it got all caramel and sticky looking.
Now I had already poured a Budweiser and it was fixin’ to get warm so instead of mashing the taters I threw some rice in a pot to boil. You could throw in a package of your favorite frozen veggies, but I figured I got them green onions in it. Well I suppose if your britches are feeling kinda tight you could use turkey sausage and Bud Light, but it tasted pretty good this way.
