Rich Chocolate Black Currant Cake

For the chocolate cake
225 gm flour (maida)
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
190 gm sugar
150 gm butter
3 tbsp chocolate powder
For the topping:
1 1/2 cups black currant jam
For the decoration:
Sift the baking powder and soda with the flour (maida). Add the chocolate powder and mix well. Beat the eggs, sugar and butter in a mixture till the sugar is well blended into the eggs and butter to obtain a smooth mixture.
Slowly add this mixture into the flour(maida) ensuring that no lumps are formed.
Grease a non-stick cake tin and pour the mixturei into the tin and bake in a pre-heated oven for 25-30 minutes at 180o C or till a knife comes out smooth when inserted in the centre of the cake. Allow the cake to cool inthe oven. Loosen the side and place on a serving dish.
Spread the black currant jam lavishly on the top and decorate with cherries and serve chilled.
