History of Dum Dum Pops

Dum Dums were founded by John Phillips and named by I.C. Bahr, the sales manager at Akron Candy company in 1924. He named the lollipops Dum Dum because he figured it was a name every child could say. Then in 1953, Spangler Candy Company purchased the Dum Dum name.
