My family has always been big on tasty, home cooked meals to feed many. I have a house full of boys and this is always a winner dinner!

Sweet-sational!

5 stars from 1 rating of Pork Chops

Delicious and Budget Friendly

This is a go to dish when trying to do a simple budget friendly, man satisfying, kid approved type of meal! When I mention apples, bacon, meat and potatoes all together in a dish most people look surprised but intrigued.

Want to impress your significant other, Satisfy picky taste buds and not break the bank? Look No Further!

Cook Time

Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 30 min
Ready in: 40 min
Yields: 3-4 people

Ingredients

  • 4 butterfly pork chops, (or cut of your choice)
  • 1/4 Cup Bacon, chopped
  • 3 medium Apples, chopped/cubed
  • 1 medium Red Onion
  • 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • dash Salt*Pepper*Garlic Powder, to taste

Step 1

Chop Bacon toss in pan

Cook to desired consistency

Remove and Set aside (keep bacon grease in pan)

***Warning*** Remember friends when cooking, do not use the same cutting board and knife for your meat and non-meats. Avoid cross contamination and food borne illnesses. Keep your hands Clean

STEP 2

Add Pork chops to pan to cook in flavorful bacon grease. (If you have too much grease in your pan drain and set aside, use as needed.)

Season with a dash of salt, pepper, garlic,

Let cook about 5 to 7 mins each side.

When flipped they should be a wonderful golden brown and white with NO pink.

You know they are ready to flip when easily lifted from the pan. If you try to flip them too soon they will still be stuck. Juices will run clear with no pink tint.

If you have a meat thermometer use it! Pork when fully cooked should have and internal temperature of 175.

Set aside in oven on warm. While we cook the other ingredients. You could also cook the pork chops last if you prefer, I cook them first because I like them to absorb the bacon flavors in the pan.

STEP 3

Chop and cube your onions and apples

STEP 4

Toss the onions and apples in the hot pan

Simmer until desired consistancy, and your kitchen is filled with a mouth watering aroma.

I cook till the apples and onions are sauteed and are nice and soft, but some of you prefer the crunch and crisp which is just as fabulous.

STEP 5

Stir the bacon into your apples and onions once they have the desired texture

Add in your brown sugar, sprinkle with cinnamon cook a few minutes to let the sugar melt and caramelize. During this time I push my toppings to the side and add the chops back in.

Pssst: Here is a little family cooking secret. We hardly measure, we rely on smell and visually appealing to determine amount of spices used. Kind of like "saltbae"

STEP 6

SERVE AND DEVOUR!

I usually serve with homemade mashed potatoes. I really enjoy this with sweet potatoes and highly recommend.

With this recipe you can even dice up the sweet taters and make it part of your smothered toppings! Just remember they need a little extra time to cook before adding apples and onions which will cook faster.

I hope you enjoy! please leave some reviews or pictures and let me know how yours turned out!
