Tofu Turkey

Thanksgiving Alternative Foods

Instead of having turkey which some people coming to dinner won’t like, try some of these alternative foods. If you’re Vegan you could try having a soy tofu turkey and yes they have them in most organic food stores or you can make your own.

You will need about five chunks of tofu and spices, personally poultry seasonings have a nice taste. Add some vegetable broth and some vinegar and soy sauce. To add a bit of flavor mustard and soy sauce really add the bite and flavor to tofu. Form it in a mold if you have one and make a vegetable stuffing and stuff the middle, decorate with orange slices and cranberries. Most families have one vegetarian between friends and family and you can cut this down in half if you only have one that might like it.

If tofu makes you run away in fear, then try a baked ham, roast beef, seafood, or lamb, Alternatives can also be one dish meals like lasagna and oyster dressing, with seafood. A seafood feast can make a colorful delicious spread for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Watching your Weight for the Holidays?

Weight Watchers deserve a reward for their perseverance. Try and serve chocolate dipped fruits which can make beautiful displays or jello molds, which is a light desert and can also add art to your table. Reduce the sugar in pies and use alternative sweeteners. Stevia makes a wonderful substitute and its natural.

Light Desserts

A No Diet Dinner

For those of us that indulge a few times of year an extra special treat is going to a butcher shop and ordering their prime cut of beef and the meat is much different than what you buy in the grocery store if it has been grass fed and been given no hormones. A special cut of meat or poultry always is the main attraction at a holiday dinner.

If you are adventurous, than order Bison or pheasant. A great flavor for pheasant is to stuff it with cranberries and oranges, it not only adds flavor it colors the meat some. Be sure to cook pheasant on high heat to get the skin crispy and brown.

Enjoy your holidays and remember. dare to be different.

GREAT ideas. Why not? There is a Thanksgiving in originality. Thank you. My best birthday party was on a different day.

You are delightful write a poem about tofu turkeys LOL I so love your reaction. I guess I write about things I don't like either, you couldn't get me to eat it, but most vegetarians love it.

Hugs glad you are enjoying the good wishes, because I enjoy yours.

I am vegetarian and have been for many years--and Thanksgiving is always a challenge--so I am always happy when a tofu turkey comes my way--I hadn't thought about making it--but you make it sound easy

Interesting and useful. I live on a boat so have become somewhat vegan by default (no refrigeration on board) so this was interesting to me. Nice hub.
