Spinach Salad

Spinach ....In my house is one of the most eaten vegetables that my family eats and it often plays an important part of our holiday tradition....It can be used in so many ways cooked or raw and it can also be the main attraction or the runner up in meal your planning.

The good thing about spinach is that it is available year round and the price is very economical and easy to use and paired with so many things soups, salads as a stuffing or all by itself ...But today I want to share with you the art of making my spinach salad along with homemade dressing.

''Spinach Salad''


5 cups of fresh spinach ( chilled and torn into pieces)

4 oranges ( peeled and sliced)

1 avocado (peeled and sliced)

1 medium red onion (thinly sliced)

1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds

A pinch of salt and white pepper

The Dressing

1/2 cup of vegetable oil

1/2 cup of wine vinegar

1/2 teaspoon of sugar

1 teaspoon of grated orange peel

1/2 teaspoon basil leaves

Dash of nutmeg


1. Combine all salad ingredients except salt and white pepper.

2. Combine all dressing ingredients; make sure you blend well.

3. Pour dressing over salad; add salt and white pepper to taste.

4. Gently toss and serve.

This is really a great salad and when you tried this you will see what I'm telling you about.........Happy Eating.

Pauline, Cookaholic, and Carol......thank you so much on the feed back, Pauline I do agree with you spinach is versatile it can be prepared in so many ways, Cookaholic the nutmeg adds another element of flavor that pairs well with the spinach...Carol I think its good to use different flavors when your cooking that way it helps to know what different things you and your family likes and every now and then we need a change in what were eating and cooking

This sounds tasty. When I first tried spinach salad with fruit, it was like a great experience. I was always skeptical of fruit mixing with vegetables and meat but that proved me wrong.

Alecia I think spinach can be pared with almost anything I like my spinach salad most with grilled shrimp and toasted almonds with a warm bacon dressing but it a food that can be turned into anything ...that you for the feed back.
