The Most Frightening Food

I thought we are still remembered "Fear Factor", a television reality show. We can see many challenges there. Maybe we could saw many challenges about ate food. Not usual food. How about the frightening food of the world? Maybe while we are traveling around the world. We visit the place which served unique food. I'll explain about the most frightening food. I just talk about the most frightening food from Asia.

Fried Spider, We can find this food on Cambodia and another Southeast Asia country. Spider is the scary animal. Sometimes we afraid watch this animal in the movie, especially in the real life. How do we eat fried spider? And this became a crunchy snack. Wow, amazing. Anyone want to try this food? Maybe it looks crunchy. There is small town on Cambodia, They called Spiderville located on Skuon city. We can find many people offering and selling this food. We can visited and try this food while on traveling on this country.

Fried rat, unbelievable. This is not common rat in our house. But, this is the forest rat. Add with spice, it become delicious food. This is for people who usually consume it. But for us, who not usually eat this food. We must be careful, maybe this animal containing some disease. We don't know the safety to eat this food.

Monkey Brain. Maybe we not realize, why Monkey Brain is kind of the frightening food. Because the brain is consumed when the monkeys are still alive, so cruel. We can find this activity in the southern Chinese. On the special table which the monkey drunk by morphine and the scull was operated and the brain was ate directly. The dangerous enjoyment.

Um no thanks, really frightening lol! The most exotic food I've eaten is a balut (a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled) but it's pretty normal here in the Philippines. =)

I feel queezy. I don't think I would ever like to even consider eathing a rat or monkey brains and especially not a spider.

Frightening... definitely. My mom eats some creepy food too. She comes from the Philippines and some of the things she does to the fish, well.. and... um... poor, poor fish.

Good hub. :D

I know all cultures eat different things. I myself could not eat fried spider or monkey brain (and that is horrible what they do to animals over there, talk about cruelty! I am suprised PETA hasn't tried to do anything about it). But I have eaten the stomach of a cow which is a key ingredient in Menudo and I have eaten Cabeza which is the meat from the head of a goat. So everyone's cultures are quite different, who's to say how scary one thing is for one, may be quite the delicacy for another. GREAT HUB!

Thanks Pachuca, I agree with you. I can't eat all food above. I just informed. I think you had tasted the Menudo food. It was great. thanks you!

prasetio30, I cannot imagine chewing these things while looking at the rest in my plate. I will stay with leaves and roots and fruits. This is why I have to campaign to take care of our envrironment so that we will continue to be nourished by it.

Thank you for your sharing. It good to know there are things like these out there.

What about the cats and dogs? Just kidding, I have heard of other weird, foods such as, fried lizards, chocolate covered ants, grasshoppers, beatles, codfish sperm, rotten soybeans, and even tuna eyes. I know a lot of these mentioned are special treats in Asia and other origins. Good article!!! You know, mountain oysters are a big thing in the hills of America. These are bull testacles or can come from buffalo as well, never tried them but know it has always been a big thing. They are usually peeled, coated in flour, pepper and salt, sometimes pounded flat, then deep-fried. This delicacy is most often served as an appetizer.

Thankks Michael for stopping by. You give wonderful comment. I know most of us know about asian food. And you give me another choice about another food. There's also horse testicle become delicious food for some person in my country.

veganpussy 6 years ago

I'm from Indonesia, and I can give you footage of how bad they abuse those animals that 'normally' & 'not normally' considered as food. Try to give your empathy a chance and, maybe if you dare, visualize if you was at their position. They are sentient beings that have emotions and can feel pain, just like us..And no law here to protect any of them. Civilization & capitalism have brought us to the view that 'we don't eat to live, we live to merely fuckin' eat'. BIG FAT FUCK to that cos it has contributed to the hugest violence on earth towards not only non-human animals but also those who suffer hunger! Call me mad-ass-mothafuckabitch. Am from Indonesia, I know how it feels of not being able to do much against human-crazy-appetite nowadays.

Eating brains out of a live monkey...oh...so sad to even think about it. I did not realize that that was happening. As to eating bugs...supposedly they are high in protein and are a good source of nutrition. I have yet (to knowingly) have eaten one. Up and interesting votes.

prasetio30 profile image

prasetio30 3 years ago from malang-indonesia Author

Thanks, Peggy for coming and share your opinion about this topic. I always love your vote as well. For some reasons, I think eating brain was a bad idea..hahaha. Not all of us want to try it, right. Take care!
