Fourth of July Party Table
Summer means party time for the most patriotic holidays of the year. We start out with Memorial Day in May. Then there is Flag Day in June and right through the Fourth of July. Summer is fun time and the best time to celebrate outdoors with a picnic style party.
Decorating can be as simple or elaborate as you choose. A red and white checked tablecloth is a simple background for serving and those wonderful summer and salads that go so well with the simple pleasures of hamburgers and hot dogs right off the grill.
Decorated Cookies as a Centerpiece
While you can have as many or few desserts as you like, the basic butter cookie iced with red, white and blue decorator icing is the perfect centerpiece for your table. These cookies placed on a platter in a flag motif are a great start for your celebration.

Salad Serving Safety
Potato and Macaroni Salads are among the most popular foods for any picnic or party and can be the most potentially harmful ones you can serve. These foods and others that are served with mayonnaise as their base need to be kept refrigerated. While using a bowl filled with ice under the serving bowl helps you can easily run out of extra bowls for the ice.
My suggestion for that party where you need to keep several bowls cold during serving is to use a blow up ice chest such as the ones pictured here.
A child's pool can be used and then used for your children's entertainment the rest of the summer or you can invest in the one that is longer and can be set up on a table.
Something From the Grill
Whatever you serve as sides whether they be salads or baked beans, the most important part of the meal is the main course.
While Shish Kabobs are popular and can be made with cubes of any meat and chunks of fresh cut vegetables, the most popular is still you hamburgers and weenies. Cooked on the grill to whatever degree of well done you please.
My husband loved to grill and made everything from blackened weenies for his Mom to a rack of ribs which were his favorite. A lot of steaks and chicken breasts were cooked on our grill.
